So I made the trade!

So far, I'm happy. PG+ sounds pretty much in-line with the Fluence Classics, but of course, this guitar sounds much more Fender-y. Brighter and twangier.

Neck profile is great. Fretboard radius could be better, but I'll manage. Relic job is... interesting... LOL.

Setting it up right now with 12-56's in Drop C. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to get a wrench to adjust the TR. Never had a Fender, so I didn't know they used 3/16ths. I only have one for my Squier.

So far, I'm happy!

So... mod suggestions? LOL. I'm thinking single humbucker pickguard with a D-Activator or something crazy like that.

I say go for a HS pickguard to keep some Fender-ness in there. You can always scallop the fretboard, too.
That's not such a bad idea.

Do they sell Fender pickguards that house a humbucker in the bridge and a Tele single coil in the neck? I have a Tele QP-Neck lying around.

I do want to get rid of that ridiculous volume knob there too, LOL.

I am sure you can have one made that also moves the first knob over. Check out any of the places that sell pickguards and see if they will cut it for you.

I'm thinking about a Dimebucker for the bridge, LOL. I kinda want something that looks completely out of place on the guitar. Not color-wise out of place, but more like concept-wise. The Dimebucker might do well with 250K pots too.

Also, the neck profile is fantastic. I'd give it a 10/10 if the fretboard was flatter. But the neck feels GREAT. It's thin for sure. Not sure what kind of finish the neck has going on, but it's "worn" throughout most of the neck, but doesn't feel like raw wood. I honestly like it better than my Les Paul in that department.

Also... don't like the Texas Specials or whatever they're called. I'd much rather have QP's.

You could get a pickguard blank and spend about $75-$80 and buy a cheap laminate trimmer and 2 jigs, that way you can decide the pickup placement and you'll have the tools if you ever want to make other pickguards. You may also find out that the body was only routed for sss and you may need to rout it for a humbucker.

It's HSH inside.

Pearloid white pickguard!
Single Hum white pearloid guard? Not bad! What color pickup, then?

Also wondering if the Gotoh saddles from my Gotoh Tele bridge will fit. They're brass. Since I've got my Fender needs covered with this one, I think I might sell my Esquire.

warmoth will make almost any pickguard you want
Expensively, probably, LOL. Plus I'm in Canada, so even more expensive.

I was wondering if the random Chinese pickguards they sell at Amazon that state they fit the Tom Delonge Strat will fit these? I mean, both are Mexican.

If you want a dimebucker in the bridge but also want something that looks out of place, take a look at the Bill Lawrence L90. It's fairly similar to the L500, cheap, and fits in a humbucker route, but it looks a bit unconventional. The 6H model will bring you closest to a Dimebucker, 4H will be brighter and 8H will be hotter.

I think a QP Tele neck and 8H l90 would be a cool combo. I myself would do single volume knob with a push/pull to select the pickup.

I say finish/upgrade the Relic job, go with White Pearled pick guard, and white pickups....two Texas specials and a white PG plus, keep it as a Lonestar, and buy another to go Drop C or whatever chugs your boat.

But I'm a Start guy...

I don't do anything but chug, LOL. So I kinda need my guitars to do the chug thing in different ways. Otherwise, it's just going to sit there in the corner unplayed.

Right now, it has the two Texas Specials and the PG+. I like the PG+ for what it is. I'm going to keep it around. But I'm underwhelmed with the Texas Specials. They sound like they've got no weight behind them. Aren't these supposed to be overwound? Not particularly spanky either, so I'm guessing it's the 250K pots holding them back.

Creme or similar looks best too me, white is too glaring imo, and black sticks out like a sore thumb when there is nothing else black on the guitar.

Gotta ask...you are a "Chug" guy. Why TF would you buy that???

Yeah, none of those are the right pickups. Get at least one Hot Rails in there, or a single sized Invader.
