Re: NGD!! Jackson JS32T Kelly!!
Fully agreed, BloodRose!!
I just installed the A2 Pro neck and compared to the stock Jackson pickup it's fatter, has wider midrange and the treble is less glassy.
Couldn't be more obvious, right?
Lower output, but thicker. Won't be mistaken for a Les Paul but it's a good sound that makes the dull Jackson bridge pickup sound cheesy, amateurish and one-dimensional next to it.
Sadly I couldn't install the JB because it's lead is too short - will take it for an extension this week and install it the next weekend.
I have the option of a ceramic or A5 magnet; I think I'll keep it stock for it's first attempt and I think the JB will sound a bit airy and de-congested here with Alnico 5.
Interestingly, the A2 Pro sounds a lot more tighter and composed in the bass than it did in my SZ.
Which should not be surprising, but I'm still impressed by the margin of the difference.
The SZ is set neck, fat mahogany everything and short-ish scale and the A2 Pro was borderline muddy at moments there. Not here.
So there you go. Improving my Jackson one step at a time!
