NGD Luke LK 100

I've been looking at those! So, what do you think? I wouldn't have a chance to play one before buying, but I own 2 EM/MM USA guitars.

Well made for the pricepoint. Has a push / push 12db boost on the volume pot, works great both clean & dirty.
5 way position switch / HH pups some really unique flavors of tone. Locking tuners. Roasted maple neck.
Neck is chunky but comfy. Covers both the LP & Strat stuff. IMO this guitar is way better than a PRS SE type.
I got this on a trade but he was asking only $500. Steal for the features. Pickups are outstanding.
The Petrucci Sterlings seem much less value for the features. Luke want his personal touches for this and it shows.
By all means snag one.

Well, it sounds pretty good! Do you see yourself changing anything on it?

At first i wasn't thrilled with the saddles on the bridge but i was ablt to adjust that fine.
As long as the pickups do fine with a 100 watt Marshall & my pedalboard i can live with it.
Its a cool guitar. Alot of thought went into it.

Yours looks a lot blue-r than some of the pics online which somehow look a little grey or washed out black.

It can seem a little darker depending how the light hits is.
This is my first Music Man / Ernie Ball family product ive seen them for years.
I can tell you alot of extra effort & attention to detail went into the design & manufacture of this instrument.
I would not hesitate to buy another similar product.

Good to know. I have a EB/MM Silhouette Special and an SUB1 which are incredible instruments. I have been curious about the Sterlings as the regular USA Lukes are like $3k+.

Nice find, JMP/HBE.

I don't know about the Luke, but I currently have a JP157D, recently sold a Stingray SR30, and had an AX-40D (with the factory Axis pickups) for a while. I've also tried the Sterling Majesty, SR50, and 6-string JP models in the store.

They were all perfectly serviceable and the AX-40D was easily the best of the bunch, but every one seems to have had one notable issue or another straight from the factory (frets, electronics, finish blems, etc) and the finishes aren't all that exciting in person.

My SE Custom 24 with $80 in upgrades (nut + locking tuners) took the guilt out of selling my last USA-made PRS and has my favorite punk-rock tone of any of my humbucker-equipped guitars, but I wouldn't swap a proper USA-made EBMM for any of the "Sterling" counterparts I've tried so far.

Hopefully the Luke is an exception. Certainly seems like you made out well on the deal and if you enjoy it, that's all that matters!

So i was getting some microphonic squeal from the pups w/a dirt pedal it didnt matter which pedal i have several.
The back of the pups did have a dense type foam but they were floating & vibrating in the pup cavity.
I always keep leftover foam from pickup boxes that works great for all kinds of stuff.
I shimmed the cavities of both pickups and that took care of the squeal.

Wow, very cool. Is the boost noisy?

I have several, still paying LOL. I have a Suhr as well, for me there is no contest. The Suhr is beautiful and perfect but just doesn't blow up my skirt? The Luke 3 is incredible

Yeah, the USA versions are really special. But their Sterlings have been getting better every year. The Sterling Luke is one of the more expensive ones, at around $600. The other models are around $400.

Does that have the same V shaped neck as the EBMM?

New they´re over a grand here in Europe, nevertheless if they had made them in HSS like the EBMM, I most likely would already have bought one by now.

Yes on the neck.
