NGD - Once upon a time, I was falling in love, but now I'm only falling apart

Picked up an LTD Eclipse. I was trolling the used pages looking for a barebones, stop tailpiece guitar I could put a Black Winter Rail in. This came up in an SDOTD 50% off for $300 so I pulled the trigger. The stock pickup is "okay" but I really think the BW is going in there. Action is solid, and more than anything, I want it for rhythm tracking in the studio. The guitar has an LP Jr kind of vibe. Not sold on the tuners, so locking tuners might also be in the future. Not a bad price for a set-neck guitar. Plus, I do not have any 24-fret LP-style guitars. Bonus is push/pull coil splitting.

They didn't seem to turn evenly, tight then loose. Maybe it is a breaking-in thing. I am going to set it up for .09s probally tonight I I will know soon.

I saw that the other day. That would be the perfect platform for a BW rail. You could even run the push/pull for series/parallel.

No it came up on SDOTD around 4 days ago and landed on my porch this morning. Pretty quick turn around. I should have ordered the Black Winter at the same time but I wanted to hear the pickup first. It is great pickup just not me.

Definitely go for a Black Winter in there! Particularly with the push-pull pot, since the Winter splits very well.

Oh I like it enough. It sounds and plays very well !
I mostly got it to help a kid out who needed the cash.
It's fun ... I'm just not sure I'm good enough to be a 7 string player. My brain is a little we Todd did.
