I don't know if you guys recall me posting a thread asking for opinions on Epiphone Dots a couple weeks ago. Picked up a new one in ebony last Friday! Loving it so far, very fun to play and the style is surprisingly comfortable.

I would've loved to pick up a Gibson ES-335, but the price is just too steep for me. So, now it's project guitar time! Going to swap the pickups (leaning towards Gibson Burstbuckers 2 & 3 right now) and I'm going to swap the pickguard for one shaped like a 335 too. But for now, what do you guys make of these two knob choices?

ALSO... I'm trying to pick a name for this one. I usually name/nickname my guitars. I've got three suggestions so far, but if you have a different one in mind, please list and explain. Here are my suggestions:

1.) Charlotte - Body shape looks spider-esque with this color, like a black widow spider. The first place my mind ran was Charlotte's Web.
2.) Dottie - Ummm, duh. Cheesy and unoriginal, but not bad.
3.) Ben - I saw Ben Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie playing a black 335 and now everytime I look at mine it makes me think of their music.

Again, other suggestions are welcome!

How about Esmeralda Villalobos? The taxi driver in pulp fiction that drives Bruce Willis away after he beats the other boxer when he was supposed to throw the fight. Nah? Ok Nevermind. Haha. Gertrude has a nice ring to it as well. I voted top hat for that axe.

I like the stock knobs best and then the reflectors after that. Happy NGD!

Actually, the full name is kinda long. But Esmeralda ain't bad :scratchch

I like Charlotte. I got an Hamer 335 copy last year and decided that it sounded so good without doing anything to it, that I named it Floyd.

I name my guitars too - My SG is Mimi and my Epi LP is Rosalie, named after lost loves. My Hagström 12-string is Audrey, after Audrey Hepburn.

out of the options on your poll I selected the reflector knobs, but the truth is if it were my guitar I would put just plain black knobs on

I have black speed knobs on my ebony Sheraton, and they look great. Second choice would be metal cap (reflector).

Seth's or BB's would be nice in that.

I am partial to speeds on everything Gibson-esque, but I like reflectors on 3x5s. I picked up a black 335 pro afew weeks ago, and Im gonna go with the reflectors myself.

EDIT: i stopped feeling the need to just force a name onto a guitar so that is has a name.. it almost always ends up getting sold when I do that. IME, guitars earn a name because of their personality..e.g. my Tele earned the name Capt, Crunch because of its tone with a Marshall as well as the color.

i like the reflector knobs.

some guitars are dudes IMO (i have one, dystrust has three, that just feel dude-ish). that one strikes me as female, but it's hard to tell just from a picture. you just got to play it and see what it tells you about itself.

(i've named all my cars too. :lol

Real talk: I have 10 guitars and want to sell 6 of them.

The ones I want to keep?
- Strat, gift from my parents, 1996
- Guild D30, gift from my parents, 1998
- Tele, first guitar I built, 2011
- Dot, just sounds chewy, speaks to me

The Dot is the only guitar I have less than 4 digits in, and it was $269. It's got some mods, but us basically a Dot.

I voted reflectors. I don't like a guitar too dressed up, but it would definitely look sexier with the reflectors. Or maybe witch hats like from a 72 Tele Deluxe.

Let us know how the BB2 and BB3 work out for you. Curious to know if your guitar is bright at all. I've got a BB3 in my LP now and it has a very present high end. So far I'm very happy with it. Seths work very well in my 335 - I highly recommend those in this type of guitar. Unless it's a dark guitar.

Reflectors. I like how they look on my 335. They came on a SG Classic I had. Just a nice classy look.

I don´t like reflector knobs. If I want something to look like a fender amp, then I`ll BUY a Fender amp.

I would do one of 3 things
1. leave it as it is
2. Black tophats (my preference)
3. Gold tophats to match the hardware (unless its just reflections that give it a goldish hue, then this option dies.)
