Ngd: Prs 305

Re: Ngd: Prs 305

I'm not a big fan of the color but the whole rest is really cool. Nice fretboard ^^

Re: Ngd: Prs 305

PRS makes a killer bolt-on guitar. Never played one of those, but they really do give off that "player" vibe by just looking at it. Understated, but beautiful.

Congrats.

Can you post some better closeups of the neck and headstock?

I know the guy is the guitar world's equivalent of Mel Gibson, but I'm starting to see Ed Roman's point reg. PRS neck heels.

FWIW that's a totally different heel pictured than the one Ed Roman makes an ass of himself about.

That's the 513 neck heel PRS designed for that line of guitars (pretty recently) and, according to them, it's there to provide measurable tonal benefits.

More to the point,

We're not discussing some random guitar on the internet.

We're looking at pictures that Kosh has posted to show us all the awesome new guitar he just invested in... so maybe keep that in mind before you weigh in with your critique?

True. Just have to say that even the one Roman bashes caused me no problems for the year and a half I gigged my PRS.

Anyways, I'll have to try out one of these 305s. I'm a big fan of their bold on designs, and I'd be curious to see how the pickups stack up against traditional single coils. I've always been a fan of these "in between" guitars that they make, like the Swamp Ash special or the CE line. The way you describe it sounds very interesting!

Heh, I'm fairly certain Kosh has skin thick enough to enjoy his new axe regardless of what some random dude at a net forumt thinks of the neck heel.

Re: Ngd: Prs 305

I've always wanted to try those things out, they look great (although this is coming from someone with a rig consisting of a Fender '56 Strat and 2 PRS). With PRS, you can just pick one up off the shelf and know that it's going to be crafted impeccably. I'd love to hear one of those things in action, although it is a tad disappointing to hear that they lack the brilliance of traditional sounding single coils. I like seeing PRS try new things and I think this guitar is destined to be a cornerstone of the line. It seems to embrace the familiar look of a classic guitar with the PRS design that tends to make everything work so well together.

Oh I'm sure he can too - and I didn't mean to jump on you like that - it just seemed like kind of a negative comment for a NGD thread.

No harm done though, I'm sure...

I am once again amazed by the level of humility on this forum... I've been here regularly for over a month now, and still no flame wars? I'm in the twilight zone...

Re: Ngd: Prs 305

why is everyone jumping sosomethings ass lately? I see no reason for doing so or any provocation on his part.
Anyway..for guys wiht some guitar experience, its easy to see this guitar is superbly well put together, with quality parts. Same as with Suhr instruments. That all adds up to fantastic tone, I think many of us would agree to that.
I try and put together piecemeal guitars with quality parts, and ive got good at it cause I've been doing it for about 5 years now and have some goof experience..and I believe I have one, maybe two I have put together that I could rank wiht PRS or Suhr bolt on,., but in general with the rest of my assembled guitars, the money I save is evident that it isn't a quality guitar like Suhr or PRS.
