NGD PRS se content

My wife knows me so well. She decided to surprise me with a new guitar for Christmas. She know my love of semi hollow guitars, les Paul's and green. That she couldn't resist. The guitar is a PRS SE Zach Myers sig. It may not be the highest dollar guitar but it sounds and plays very good. I will upgrade the tuners eventually might try some different pickups as well.
The satin finish on the neck makes it fast even though it's a fairly thick neck. It resonates and sustains better than most of the gibsons I have had. Standing up playing it at waist level I can feel it resonating in my chest. I like some of shinedowns music and even though I am not huge on sig guitars this one and the Cantrell rampage are exceptions. I forgot to put the truss rod cover back on for the pic.

If you ever get disappointed by the stock pickups, I heartily recommend a P-Rails and Triple Shot mounting surround for the neck position.

Re: NGD PRS se content

I hear they are great guitars full stop... Your better half clearly has excellent taste!

Re: NGD PRS se content

I don't think I've ever seen that model. I have to say I really like it. That's an awesome present! Good wifey!

Re: NGD PRS se content

Thanks guys so far I really like it. The only thing I am going to change is put a new nut on it. The color is kind of odd at certain angles its green at others its more blue. And when the light hits it right it looks like some areas have more of the natural wood color coming through.

Re: NGD PRS se content

Why are you going to put a new nut on it?

I had a PRS SE one time (Singlecut Soapbar) and I remember the nut was taller than a regular nut and had really square shoulders. Is that what's bugging you, or does it have a bad factory setup?

My PRS SE nostalgia / love / desire is redlining right now - love this guitar, man!

Re: NGD PRS se content

The slots are cut way too low. I cant even slide a piece of notebook paper under the b and high e strings with it tuned to standard. If I barely fret the strings and pick real lightly they dont buzz much. The other strings are fine but those 2 are cut alot lower for some reason.

Re: NGD PRS se content

Sounds to me like a neck relief issue rather than a nut problem.

I have an SE Custom Semi-hollow. I find that it rides better with 10s than with the stock 009-042 gauges.

Re: NGD PRS se content

Dude, this is sweeeet! If the nut is the only problem, after changing it you've got yourself an mean-looking guitar that will make others green with envy! (that's why your guitars are green, right?)

Re: NGD PRS se content

Awesome! Congrats on both! (Cool wife and guitar!) Im not big on sig models cuz of the names, but if the guitar has the features you want... Def nice lookin!!

Re: NGD PRS se content

Thanks guys the more I play it the more I like it. The tone of the semi hollow body combined with my echolution delay makes for some nice airy tones. The bridge does have adjustable saddles.
