I just got this Schecter and man it RIPS. I love this guitar, previous owner took out the SDs and put another set of SDs the Alnico 2 pro slash set... really low output so I may switch the bridge pup.

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

The shelf of the fretboard seems really short for 24 frets... looks like the actually neck goes almost all the way up

Those don't look like Slash SDs. They look like the stock Nazgul/Sentient. (Darker poles and logo.) Nazgul should have LOTS of output.

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

Wow! That's beautiful. I think Schecters are way underrated. Great guitars. Enjoy! ;)

dude said he changed the pickups. he may have ordered these special but they don't have very much output ahaha

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

When you change the strings take a look, but the Duncan Slash pickups have chrome pole pieces and no logo on top. The ones in your guitar appear to have dark pole pieces and a black logo on matte bobbins, just like the Nazgul/Sentient.

I wonder if someone messed up the wiring and it's running in single coil mode... but even then it should have plenty of output. :)

no because it has coil splits. these could have custom bobbins etc

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

Didn't know Schecter had that model around. Looks terrific!
Congrats Sir!

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

Coil splits? Again, not the Slash A2s then. Those are not 4 conductor pickups.

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

if you have a multimeter
please check something real quick

using the image below
put the pickup selector on the neck pickup
turn then volume all the way up
insert guitar cable into jack on the schector
hold the amp side of the cable in your hand to test
check the ohm readings from tip to sleeve and post

then activate the coil split
again check the ohm readings from tip to sleeve and post

repeat this in the bridge pickup position

I believe Dominus may be on to something

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

ok guys! I checked the reading using 20K
for the Neck (unsplit): 7.6
Neck split: 3.9
Bridge: 14.2
Bridge split: 7.35

i just got my custom shop nazgul sentient 6 string pickups i couldnt' wait for them to be released so i ordered a set from MJ. They sound great , i like them better then my black winter set . my sentient came in at 7.75K and the nazgul read 13.65K DC resistance . aweseome pickups .

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

those specs do match the Nazgul and Sentient
and they look like those pickups

nazgul_6str.jpg

take a look

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

But they don't sound like the Nazgul... or I just really don't like them in alder... I find these to be shrill and not much low end.

Re: NGD: Schecter Banshee!

they probably just need the height adjusted
lower them a bit

if they are too bright
a larger value volume pot should tame it a bit also
