NGD!!! Super Strat Goodness

Re: NGD!!! Super Strat Goodness

I know that feel though man. It's definitely cramped under the pickguard. Glad you got it all sorted out.

Not completely yet. I used some electrical tape to get me by for a little bit. I'm gonna have to take it apart again and remove some wood if I want to keep using this switch... Didn't think it would be quite that big of a headache.

Re: NGD!!! Super Strat Goodness

Well damn.

I have one of those super switches in my Hamer Californian. I know they're bulky!

VERY NICE . . .

. . . i almost wanna say, sweet retro guitar, but that is gonna make me feel old, because for me, the 80's was just last year . . . right ?

I grew up (musically wise) with Slash & Vai as my guitar Gods.

Thank you. I did too, even if I came in a little late to that party. I was strongly considering bright green or yellow pickups and knobs for more of the Steve Vai look, but I went the cheaper path and kept them black.

MMMMmmm, now you made me think.

That yellow axe with shocking lime green knobs . . . tasty !

Re: NGD!!! Super Strat Goodness

Word!

I thought it was an RG350MYE but that truss cover is different.

In fact, that's real different. No string retainer either.

What model is it?

New Ibanezes (circa 2011 up) use that truss rod cover, which slides sideways so you don't need to unscrew it. Very helpful in adjusting the rod. Again, another innovation by Ibanez, and I am not even paid to say it.

Hey man, you might wanna replace the Edge III bridge with the original Edge. I heard this one is crap, the lowest of all Ibanez bridges along the quality scale.

Re: NGD!!! Super Strat Goodness

I got it used. Let me search the internets and see exactly how old it is...

So, it looks like it's a 2010 & was made in the Cort Indonesia Factory

The first 2 digits of the serial number are the year of manufacturing, and possibly the third and fourth digits are the month.

That makes sense. I think I got mine back in '09.

The original Edge isn't a direct fit, its a larger unit. The Edge Pro will fit though. You'd want to upgrade the studs though.

Not quite. That honor goes to the dreaded LO TRS II.

The III ain't that bad at all.

Re: NGD!!! Super Strat Goodness

The current bridge is working just fine for now and will stay in the guitar until that is no longer the case.

Re: NGD!!! Super Strat Goodness

Dropping in so many pricey upgrades, why'd you go Cort Indo and not original FujiGen? Or was the price a steal & the upgrades old parts bin residents?

Picked up the guitar at what I felt was a good deal and it plays well. Picked up the pickups used, fairly cheap. Bought the switch new for $30... It's nice.
