NGD: tele content...

As if family vacations weren't expensive enough, I had to find this baby to curb my telecaster gas.

I'd been looking for a nice affordable tele. I'm mostly a LP guy so I didn't want to spend a fortune on one and the Classic Vibe squiers seemed like the best option. However, I didn't want to buy new (they go for 480$ canadian + taxes, so about 560$ when all's said and done). Sadly, I've never seen one locally and very few pop-up in Quebec and Montreal. When they do, they're too far from me anyways.

Found this thing on the classifieds while I was in quebec with the wife and kids: 6 months old Baja Telecaster (MIM). They retail for 1000$ on this side of the border (I think they're 800$ in the US right?). The guy bought it new and barely played it, there's not a scratch or mark on it anywhere.

Got it for 600$... pretty cool.

So far I really like it I must say. The S1 switching has some very cool tones and the neck feels just right (people refer to it as a beefier neck...not sure why but it sure ain't skinny either), love it!

It's my first fender and so far I'm quite happy with it but I do have play it more, we just got back and I didn't touch it while we were on the road.

Cheers!

Re: NGD: tele content...

Thank you! As dumb as it sounds the butterscotch with black guard is the classiest tele look imho.

Re: NGD: tele content...

Nice score. I like that model myself. Don't own one but played a few in different shops. That Tele can handle anything you throw at it.

Re: NGD: tele content...

The neck profile on those is superb. I found the stock pickups and the natural acoustic quality of the body disappointing. Compensated bridge saddle sections would be a good investment.

Well effing done!

Just joined the telecaster club myself a couple of weeks ago, I'm a Les Paul guy too. I can tell you without hesitation you will love the tele!

Congrats.

Thanks voggin. Congrats on yours as well. The soft v shaped neck feels really good and this is my first guitar with a maple board... I'mmquite enjoying it.
