Second to last project is now completed! I go back and forth on a Tele andam so glad I decided to go all in.

*Allparts 1 piece Roasted Maple neck, 9.5 Radius
*USACG Alder body with tummy cut
*Revel Custom Pickups, basically a Broadcaster set with UOA5 and Degaussed A5 magnets

I'm really happy with how this guitar feels and plays! Roasted Maple is awesome--I highly recommend you get one someday if you can. The pickups are amazing! The UOA5 in the neck is now my favorite neck tone out of all of my guitars. So over all, extremely happy with this one.

Re: NGD - Tele Project Complete

Sweet! Congrats on completing it! I know how hard that can be!

Re: NGD - Tele Project Complete

Wow! That's purty! [emoji7]

That neck looks sweet... does it have a finish on it? I've been toying with the idea of doing a Tele build... you just gave me some more GAS!

Re: NGD - Tele Project Complete

yep thats a winner!
Ive got a roasted maple neck on my tele too. It is a winning formula. Love the feel, love the tone.

Re: NGD - Tele Project Complete

Very nice Tele! They're deceptively simple guitars that can work for just about anything.
Oh yeah, roasted/torrefied/thermo wood:
https://musikraft.com/product-info.php?pid175.html
Basically they kiln dry the wood under vacuum pressure to o remove most of the moisture, to make it more stable, it usually darkens the color and can really make the grain pop out. It shouldn't need a finish, either. If I had the $ to buy a new neck (instead of used and/or broken stuff) I'd get roasted ones. A friend has a Warmoth roasted neck on a strat and it feels great, especially if you dig the bare wood (or next to no finish).

Thanks man! No finish at all on the neck in that pic--I've since sanded a bit and added a very light coat of Linseed Oil to the neck. Ha! Sorry for the GAS man...actually, Teles are worth it so I'm not sorry. lol

Beautiful guitar, bro!! I can't wait to get another tele.

Thanks! After playing this one none stop I would highly recommend you get another Tele!

Oh yea

!~

:friday:

That looks amazing - what is roasted maple?

I appreciate it! And as daan mentioned below, it is regular Maple that has been "roasted" kiln dried under pressure to remove moisture and impurities and modifying (collapsing supposedly) the cell structure of the wood making it resistant to moisture changes. So theoretically it makes the neck stronger and sturdier eliminating the need for a finish/sealant.

I love the way Roasted Maple looks and feels.

yep thats a winner!

I agree!

And yup, definitely a winning formula in my book too! Can you post a pic of yours?

Thanks! I appreciate you posting that about the roasting process as well.

Definitely very simple but amazing. To be honest, I don't know why I always over looked Teles...I had a super cheap one years ago that sounded great but I didn't have it long enough to realize how versatile Teles are. Also, this thing just rings out like crazy-very ballsy with gain!

I love the feel of bare wood with a light coating of oil on it--sanded/burnished. I also think the darker color looks better than non-Roasted Maple.

Re: NGD - Tele Project Complete

gorgeous. I love it, really got GAS going for a telli. Wonderful neck on yours!

Re: NGD - Tele Project Complete

That turned out amazing and that roasted neck just reaffirmed that I indeed want one for my project

Re: NGD - Tele Project Complete

Nice that turned out great. I was glad to get the sneak peek pics you texted the other day. Made me start looking for parts.

Sure! It is my main axe these days. I love it! The strat and the gibsons etc sit sadly unused! lol
Swamp ash body at 3lb12 by Warmoth
Roasted maple 10-16 inch radius neck with 6150 (jumbo) frets. Standard thin contour. also Warmoth
Fralin "Broadcaster" set. flat polepieces. 5% overwound bridge, 2% overwound neck
Gotoh compensated 3 saddle bridge and gotoh classic tuners.
Nitro finish in "malmsteen" white (just really a yellowed/aged olympic white colour) with no grain filler and no clearcoat.
Bakelite Pickguard from allparts.

Thanks! I really like the neck, pics don't do the wood grain justice! If you can, get a Tele...so worth it!

Thanks! Ha, glad it reaffirmed you getting a Roasted Maple neck for your project--Roasted Maple is awesome!

Nice man! Looks sharp and I really like the color--Malmsteen white looks awesome! I can definitely see mine becoming #1 as well.

How are the Fralins? I had looked at getting his split rails but went with Revel because he could do the UOA5 mags.

Re: NGD - Tele Project Complete

yep i like the fralins. Very pure.
I reckon the pickups you chose would be nicer than split rails. Something always goes missing along with the noise on noiseless pickups.

I've only heard great things about the Fralins. Pure sounds like what I would've expected from that set.

I've tried his split rails and thought they sounded great but something was just different about them...glad I went with the Revel set for this guitar, may try the split rails in another guitar.

Magnificent! How long did it take to build?

Thanks man! Roasted Maple is amazing...new favorite neck and fretboard material!

Way longer than it should've. lol The only original parts of this project are the pickups. lol

I was going to go with Musikraft; however, I decided to wait on the Musikraft neck I ordered to put on a Strat instead (ordered it with the Strat headstock.)

Time wise I think it was a good 3-5 months...not exactly sure on that sorry.
