NGD the '24' guitar

Re: NGD the '24' guitar

I put the black rings back on...it does look better on this gold.

Well done! If I was you, I'd put the black pickguard back and change the knobs to Top Hats Black/Silver.

Then it'll be PERFECTION.

Re: NGD the '24' guitar

I've always took the guards off, and my right hand sometimes rests on the body and I kinda grip the pup ring...the guard would cramp my style...hehe...but it does look very kool. It's 3 am, just did the 'mapleflame mod' and swapped pups...went well, will report back after the sun rises and I can fire up the Orange.

Good luck... Great looking guitar I love the split blocks. I have a 359 that was hand picked at the factory & it is an awesome guitar. I still think I like my 335 a tad better, but the 359 is serious looker & it plays like a dream. Enjoy it, it looks great!

I anchor my pinky on the pickguard when playing arpeggios with the pick.

For the rest I don't touch the guitar with my right hand unless I need to palm mute, something I rarely do.

Well, the last song i've learned is "Ease Up" by Craig Sharmat, and the melody calls for palm muting, so...

Re: NGD the '24' guitar

The 359 is a nice upgrade from the 336, I was looking at those too..but the KS had everything I liked including the ebony board, kool markers, bone nut and the killer aged gold top and hardware. So glad I was able to find one...and pay for it. WOW...the pup swap made a huge difference, the 57 classic PLUS pups are hot, strangely had a 9.1 neck! That could be why it sounded kinda dull....too hot? Now the neck is clean and pleasantly sparkly, I'm sure the mapleflame mod added to the sustain/clarity as it even improved the stock neck tone. I recently bought an old Boss Enhancer pedal to add more clarity/brightness to my LPs clean tone, the Orange only have a vol knob on the clean channel...no EQ...but with this guitar, it's nice and clean with just enough cut....I don't need it now. The bridge is ballsy, crunchy and very articulate..love the overtones ringing on the high strings...hard to describe what the semi-hollow thing is, but it just has this nice fuzz/vibration with 'honk' that is the most pleasing gain tone (and clean) I've heard...said it before..but I really love everything about this guitar....now even more. I'll break out the LP's again...after a looooong honeymoon....or not.:cool2:

Re: NGD the '24' guitar

right on, there are tones with with that Hollow body you just cant get any other way, I think you are dead on going less hot on the neck pickup, I noticed the same thing on my Setzer Gretsch. I played others with hotter neck tv jones pickups and I think it detracts from the lush clean tone the neck can get with a lower output pickup. I dont even think its that much of a resistance differance but you can sure hear it on mine anyway. Maybe its just a hollow body thing I dont know. As far as Keifer goes, hey man, if it takes someone famous to get somthing made that right? who the hell cares. Besides just becouse he's a famous acter doesnt mean he cant play or doesnt know quality. I have a friend who does makeup on movie sets, she told me some acters have guitars and little amps in there trailers and inbetween shoots they sit back and play alot. Maybe some of these guys are better then we think. If Keifer didnt know anything about guitars how come that guitar is designed so well? I think your dead on right to buy it. Thats a great guitar, any body can see that. Nice score:14:
