NGD, The LAST NGD, I present to you, Irish

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
First of all, the name is "tentative" so don't get too attached to it. I'm Scottish, so it might not stick, but I'm not getting a plaid guitar, ever, even in my clan tartan.

Grab a tasty beverage, and prepare yourself for an historic moment!

This is what showed up on the doorstep yesterday. Brooke, the dog-alarm alerted me and I met UPS outside to sign for it.

I took it inside to my office and opened it, to find this inside. It was very well packed with bubble wrap and popcorn.

Before I continue, I would like to thank the Dali. It was he who inspired this. I'll edit this to post the thread with the guitar in question. From the moment I saw the guitar in the Dali's thread, this has haunted me. I have had a GAS like I have not had in years. So I searched, looked, watched, and finally, I saw my target and I pulled the trigger.

So anyway - as much as I think Dali was nuts for letting one of these go, I also thank him for inspiration. Come back and see the Dali's link later.

But seriously man, WTF were you thinking sending that back?!?!?!

A big part of what got me on this particular guitar was the grain, almost like a feather or something. The photos just don't do it justice.

The board is light, but even. Looks nice.

Two things I did was add a poker chip to the toggle, and I switched out Speed knobs for Gold top Hats.

Plays awesome. Needs just a very little setup tweaking for my tastes

It has Gibson 57's in it, but those will be departing in a month or so.

What is going in?

Neck - Zebra Pearly Gates
Bridge - Zebra Custom Shop Pearly Gates wound to 9.1-9.3k

My Les Pauls all have SuperD's and Distortions in them. Even my GEM has a Custom SP3 P-90. Well, my The Paul has T-Tops, but I'll lose those at some point too. This is my PAF Paul for playing everything.

I still need a strap, but it is going to be plain brown leather.

Dude, that's hot! I would so rock the hell out of that. Now, since it's Christmas time and the box was labeled, F-R-A-G-I-L-E, it's only right that it's named "Old Man Parker" or just "Parker"....LOL.

'57 Classics are sweet. I really like those but understand they are not everyone's thing. The PG's are a perfect swap.

LOL - the Wife just watched that movie the other night!

Yeah - I'm gonna have a month to play them. They might be great for what this guitar is about (Classic Les Paul-ness, instead of my usual Balls-to-the-wall-Paul).

Don't care. I'M about Pearly Gates PAF goodness. Have Mercy!

Congrats. I don't go for colored finishes but this one is beautiful. I know the New Gibson Smell. I still get the faintest whiff sometimes when I open my Explorer case even though I've had it for 25 years.

Was really hoping for a pink and gold pickup, but I guess it would clash.

Congratulations! Looks really nice. I can totally see Hollywood Ace rockin' that with Pearlys.

I also bought my final/holy grail Gibson and know that new case/guitar smell. (Not my final guitar, though. Need to thin some, then settle on the finals.)

MR Dallas will be sporting Black & White his next gig, A Caddy and a V I think.

But he has been considering bringing out the Pauls...
