Re: NGD Tim Shaw in the house!

Sweet strat! Congrats!

What do you think of the Fat 50s with the Shawbucker?

Re: NGD Tim Shaw in the house!

Apparently it has a split 250k/500k value volume pot. When the bridge humbucker is selected, its 500k and when it on the single coils, its 250k. So you don't have to deal with the single coils being too bright from 500k or the humbucker being too dark from 250k

Re: NGD Tim Shaw in the house!

still messing with the pickup height. But the shawbucker is probably the most articulate pickup I've ever heard

Thanks for the info! Reason for asking, I have a Fat 50s loaded Strat and am having trouble dialing in the bridge...sounds weak and thin compared to the neck and mid. Waiting on a SD Custom Shop build but if that doesn't work I was going to go HSS.

Eventually I might change out the fat 50's. Too much mids and low end to get that strat chime and quack I'm looking for

Re: NGD Tim Shaw in the house!

Nice score Chris!

I was tempted by the Shawbucker last year but opted for a regular American Standard instead. I can testify that they are some great sounding gits!

Re: NGD Tim Shaw in the house!

Unfortunately I had to return the guitar. Slight neck misalignment meant that the Low E string was much closer to the edge of the fret board than the high E and it kept slipping.....and the fret work was pretty bad. Returned it and got a refund. Gonna wait to see what comes out at NAMM this year
