NGD - what should I name her? :D

Re: NGD - what should I name her? :D

That looks awesome!

LTDs can be good but ESPs are on another level... they can be great!

I almost got me a good deal on an Eclipse last month. I was looking at them for some weeks, saw a pretty one come up with a good price, waited for the big paycheck and it was gone. That happens when they're priced right. I don't complain though, I still got something very nice.

Yeah that's what tends to happen with these.

Les Pauls are hit and miss with me but Eclipses are very consistent and they're less expensive while still being fabulous instruments.

You name that thing Honey Boo Boo I'm coming out there and smashing it!

Re: NGD - what should I name her? :D

I went through the guitar's guts tonight and to my surprise it's got 500k B-taper pots which if I'm not mistaken are log taper.

That explains why the guitar is a teensy bit on the bright side. It sounds great overall, I just need to beef up the sound a tad. I never did like JB's with 500K pots. I'll see if I can get the local tech to install some 300's or 250's with an audio taper and change the cap to something nicer, like an Orange Drop.

That and I've gotta change the strings - Dunlop .010-.050 Heavy Cores seem like they'd be a nice choice for this axe.

I might change the bridge pickup to the Antiquity JB eventually for a bit of a smoothed out sound on the bridge, but overall the guitar sounds killer - can't wait to get this thing REALLY dialed in.

That's he set of Heavy Cores i use on all my guitars great strings. Once you go to Dunlop you wont go back. Plus the price is on point. $5 for a set.

C5 in that thing with a 59 neck

Is that what you're using in a Les Paul or similar?

Yeah they're the only other strings I really like enough to use regularly other than D'addario.

Re: NGD - what should I name her? :D

I name my guitars after a feature they have (usually color) like Baby Blue (ice blue metallic) Big Red (frost(?) red metallic) Annie (Used to have a big Anarchy sticker near the bridge) Honey Child (my honey colored acoustic) etc. etc. Amber Lynn sounds like a pretty sweet name but IMHO you should try something exotic like, for instance, Gertrude. ;)

Re: NGD - what should I name her? :D

I dont usually dig reliced guitars but that just fits perfect on that one. Sweet axe for sure.

Re: NGD - what should I name her? :D

That's what I used in my Eclipse

Good to know. Were you running 500k or 250s?

I remember trying the C5 and being just so-so about it. The C8 was better but lacked a certain personality. The JB8 was good save for the fact that it was a tad hot and tended to fatigue the ears...

Oh crap here I go again. :D
