Her Little Mojo Minion
Well this was a bit unexpected. I'd been thinking about possibly getting a Squire Classic Vibe tele and happened to mention it to my dad while visiting him over Thanksgiving. He loves Merl Haggard so I thought maybe he'd be down with that idea. He's got a kick arse guitar store close to his house and we stopped in to see what they had. The only telecasters they had were high end Fender and boutique type ones - not really my speed.
Then the store owner pointed out a "special run" root beer sparkle/flake MIM Fender strat that a guy bought, had professionally set up & replaced the humbucker with a Duncan '59 before trading it in for something else. I wasn't really looking for another strat, but my dad was digging how it looked and sounded, and it felt amazing and had a cool 70s vibe. I convinced my dad to leave so I could think about it but once in the car he convinced me to go back in & he got it for me as a present.
Pretty wild considering my dad got me my first real guitar back in the 80s and used to drive me to lessons when I was in high school.
