NGD x4: Pawnshop finds!

Re: NGD x4: Pawnshop finds!

Agreed.

Buying the SG to remove the Invader, install something cheap and, then, flipping it makes sense.

The LTD makes sense - especially at approximately 200USD.

Remember, the entire electric guitar market in Australia is somewhat inflated by US expectations.

The other two, I would have left in the pawn shop.

unfamilar with guitar markets in other countries.. but ive heard people paying stupid prices or slightly higher than what i would consider "fair market value" for guitars/amps

Re: NGD x4: Pawnshop finds!

Well I like the neck on the SG. It is pretty thick. And you do not see a set neck guitar at $245 very often, and the tuners are very damn good on that set neck Hurricane. It's worth upgrading these guitars

Nathan. If you are happy with how you have spent your money, that is all that matters.

As you can probably tell, given 1000AUD to blow, some of us old 'uns would have sought out a pre-owned American professional, working musician's guitar of the F, G or J persuasion, secure in the knowledge that it would be with us for life.

Re: NGD x4: Pawnshop finds!

All the pawn shops where I live, have broken Squiers, broken Epiphones (the $99 bolt-on ones) and broken 80's guitars like Hondos and Lotus's, all priced more than just buying a new one from GC. I think we need better pawn shops...

Re: NGD x4: Pawnshop finds!

... but ... but ... but ... anything over twenty five years old qualifies as "vintage".

It's collectible. Everybody knows that!

pawnshops discovered the internet.. they look up the item in question and how much the market value is .. them they pick the high end of the price scale

sometimes you can find really good finds but EVERY guitar i bought at a pawnshop requires some work/parts.. which is fine as i expected that before i bought the guitars..also pawnshops are a great place to find "patients" for learning purposes

^lol. This. The pawn shops near me are dreadful when it comes to guitars. I got excited when I discovered a new one a couple of weeks ago but the only guitar there was a Squier Bullet that was missing a couple of tuners *facepalm*

Re: NGD x4: Pawnshop finds!

Two possible arguments in favour of the LH Strat-alike are;
1) learning to play with the strings in the reverse order is educational and breaks habits.
2) after a nut conversion, it could be restrung for RH, thereby increasing the Hendrix illusion.

Re: NGD x4: Pawnshop finds!

It is actually pretty easy for a right-handed guitarist to position the forearm in a comfortable playing position without interfering with the controls of an upside down LH Stratocaster. The headf@¢# aspect is the reverse resistance track on the pots.

In GF's position, I would rob the Invader out of the Epi SG, install it in the LTD Alexi, keep that guitar, sell the others.

I guess its because ive never owned/played a upside down LH guitar....
I agree with Funkfingers on the INVADER....keep the Alexi LTD, put the invader in it and sell the rest of the guitars and put some money in your pocket for some upgrades.

Re: NGD x4: Pawnshop finds!

Sell the LTD
Swap the Epiphone and Hurricane's pickups and sell the Epiphone
Keep the Strat to learn to play lefty
Keep the Hurricane
