I just can't get enough of these older Yamaha guitars. I got this one used on the GC site with the original hard case for a great price. It doors have a fair bit of fret wear, but still plays good and the body and neck are in great shape for its age. I've got some ideas on replacing the pickups when I get time.

Nice looking guitar. I agree that some of the older Yamaha's are great values and great sounding guitars. I have an HH Yamaha strat that I bought used at a pawn shop in San Diego in 1989. Years later I stripped off the thick poly cost and black paint. I stained the wood a nice golden brown and put a thin poly coat on it. It really opened up the tone and a CC/APH set is the best set of pickups I've had in it.

I don't know what year it was made.... mid 80's is a guess though. It doesn't have a Floyd in it, but a HUGE Yamaha designed trem system that weighs a ton. I just block the trem and it sounds great. It is the best sounding super strat type guitar that I've played to date.

I hope you enjoy yours as much as I have enjoyed mine. Some new SD's in that should really wake up the sound. Maybe a JB in the bridge? Oh, and I really like the color too. Had mine been white I would have likely never refinished it. Congrats.

I think I'm going to put a Tone Zone in the bridge and two Cruiser bridge pickups I already have in the neck and middle.
