Congratulations!! That color is beautiful. What a great deal on that guitar. It's a beauty. It's got some nice flame also.

Re: NGD

Thanks bro the color is Royal Blue and one I had not seen on a PRS before. It's also unusual that it doesn't have binding. The neck is the wide thin and feels great except I am having a little trouble adapting to the more rounded 10 fretboard radius as my MG's are 20's and the Carvins are 16's.

Which shop had that for a month at that price? That's a quick sell guitar at $1500 to $1800, more on a used retail sell through a shop, and I don't know of a single pawnbroker that gambles that kind of money and doesn't know exactly what he has. GC would have paid more for it than that as a walk in buy.

The reason I say that is there are tons, and I mean tons, of Chinese fake high end guitars everywhere around here hitting alot of shops. There's also some shops that are knowingly selling one about every 6 months like they came in on pawn. I've seen 2 LP Customs that had all the paperwork and everything that looked good, but were easy to spot because of the rosewood boards instead of ebony.

I don't know enough about PRS stuff to say, but I would get it checked if I were you. Pawnbrokers around here (and you're in my area) know thier business or they wouldn't be in business.

I honestly hope it's real and clean and you scored the pawnshop lottery of the year, but knowing the the pawn game, something doesn't sound right about thier pricing and it hanging for anywhere near that long without a buy.

It was in Lees in Center Point. Heck I even called ol Don Murdock over at Highland and told him to come buy it. Don didn't come over and get it and it kept sitting on that wall so I figured it just needed to be MINE!! I worked for a dealer or 2 over the years it's for real!

Lee's. Isn't that the guy with all the game mounts everywhere in the shop? I've been in there alot of times, but I don't think I've ever bought a single thing from him. I used to do alot with Jims Super Pawn before they moved out of the corner place and became more "corporate".

Congrats on a super score! That thing is gorgeous!

Last real deals I got in pawnshops were some Meucci pool cues and a Jackson Professional for next to nothing at Golden Pawn in Fultondale. Looking back, kind of wish I had kept the old first generation Gambler, but I'm sure I'll run across another sooner or later.

Re: NGD

Congrats on the guitar. I've got a CU22 in that color. Don't see too many royal blue PRS guitars.

Not sure if you know, but the reason that it doesn't have the "natural" binding is because the royal blue stain is one of the few PRS stains that they had that would bleed through the wood, so they couldn't get the binding stripe.

Is it a 10 top? Sure looks like it from the picture. Either way, nice score for that price.

Re: NGD

I'm always iffy about PRS guitars like that. Idk maybe I'm old fashioned but it still looks beautiful.

Yep thats the shop.
Best Pawn Shop Find for me was a 1965 Blackface Super I bought on the Parkway for get this $250 out the door!
One of the dust caps had come off the original speakers and was rattling around like crazy so it sounded bad. I took it over to Dixie Speaker and they glued the cap back on for free then Murdock bought it from me for $650.
That has been 10 years or so ago.
I also bought a NICE Washburn SS-40 in a shop in Gadsden for $75.00 in a hardshell case. Over the years I have done well in the Pawn Shops round here.
hey bro we still need to hook up on that body. Things got nutty here for last week. I will PM you later today maybe we can hook up sometime next week.

Re: NGD

Every time I see your username and NGD over it, I know I'm gonna end up wanting to put my head through my LCD screen.

Congrats man!! What an insane deal.

So come on, tell us. What do you think of it so far?

Easy way to tell if it's real is look under the neck pickup. There should be a sticker under the lacquer with numbers and a bar code. Do a Google search for PRS modCat decoder, and it will give you complete specs on the guitar, including the date it was completed

Give me a shout. I'm going to be down around Clay next week at RedFox Farms to check out some Grey Hatch battle cross stags. From there, it's just a hop over the ridge on to Bham.

Speaking of insane deals, I had a buddy come in the shop while I was there last week to get my money. He had taken a load of trash to the dump in Decatur and found an old Fender amp. It was an original 50's Princeton in tweed. It had the power cord cut of of it. We figured it was junk but still kind of cool because it had the speaker and it just looked cool with the old dirty tweed and mojo. My partner put on a new power cord, plugged it in and the freakin' thing worked like a charm!!!!! I asked him about selling it, but he wants to keep it for awhile. He said he'd give me first shot at it though if he decides to sell.

Re: NGD

I know what you mean bro. I was driving down the hill from my house here in my subdivision a few years back and spotted an old tweed looking amp on a heap of trash. I almost flat spotted my tires when I locked her down! Turned out it was a MINT blond 1959 Gibson Gibsonett. The on off switch had come loose and snapped the wires was all that was wrong with it. The house it was in front of was a home that had never been sold and was still owned by the family that built it in 1957. I guess the amp had been in a closet all those years. The filter caps were all shot but otherwise it was absolutely flawless. I sold it at a guitar show but wish now I had kept that one as it sounded KILLER!
They are out there if you just look hard enough!
PS if that CC doesn't sell when you come this way next week bring it with you maybe we can find somthin round here to do some hoss tradin on!

Thanks for that info bro. I have never owned a PRS so that was useful. The SN shows it is a 2007.
So far I like the neck but haven't had it out on stage yet so the jury is still out on if it's a keeper. The biggest thing so far is getting used to a 10 radius board as my Washburn MG's are 20's and the rest I own all 16's (Carvin X220C the USA Washburn A-30 and WM24 + the mutt Strat with the Moses neck) . I have owned many Carvins in the 25 scale so that feels natural as does the neck profile in the wide thin.
She plays well so maybe I can warm up to bending on that tight radius.

Same here bro as most I just haven't liked the neck feel on these guitars. This one I liked as soon as I picked it up I guess due to the wide thin neck and smaller neck heel on a 24 rather than the 22 fretter.
That + I'm just a sucker for a nice Blue FLAME!
