Now its my turn... :-D

Hot off the big brown truck - 40 minutes to be more exact.

Its pretty much a straight up Strat spec - with a couple of twists. The neck is quartersawn Torrefied maple. Pickups are FL Classics in the Neck and Middle and a standard strength V60LP in the bridge. Also the new version of the SSC.

Color's actually a little darker than the pic. The neck is very dark, more mahogany colored.

Its the 1st new with warranty guitar since 1995 and the 1st ever built to my spec.

Re: NGD

Ahh yeah - This one struck me as sounding very Knopfleresque through my VR (Just a quick once through seeing I was on duty. ;-)), but I was thinking more of this guy when I ordered it. The similarity is there. Both British and Bodaciously awesome.

Re: NGD

Not everyone who reads this thread will appreciate what caliber of instrument you just got, but those lucky enough to have played such a guitar will smirk with approval.

Re: NGD

Suhr, those are my favorite boutique Strats, the Moderns are to die for but at 4000 euro a completely custom built one to my specs goes above my current budget, or skill, or any kind of justification whatsoever, but I am still trying to!!!

Congrats bro on a lifetime guitar, enjoy her in good health!!!

Re: NGD

Why did you spend big bucks on a Strat copy when you can get a real Strat for a fraction of the price?

BEEEP BEEEP SARCASM ALERT BEEEP BEEEP

Dude, that's a HELL of a guitar. I've been lucky enough to play a few extremely high end guitars in my day, but Suhr's take the cake as far as Strat and Superstrat designs.

Re: NGD

Verbo, have you ever played a Suhr?

No sarcasm intended.

I personally think that tone-wise, the difference between mid-priced and highly expensive guitar isn't proportional to the difference of the price of the guitars themselves. A $2000 guitar isn't four times better than a $500 dollar guitar, for example. Maybe it's pride, maybe it's the desire to own a boutique guitar. But he is happy with it, good for him. This is just me.

Re: NGD

As soon as you feel a Suhr, you immediately see why they cost so much.

If I could afford it, I'd get one without hesitation. They are fantastically crafted instruments inside and out. Like no other I've played.

Re: NGD

There's no need to be a dick about it.

Just because it's not four times better doesn't mean it's not worth it. Plus, there's more to a guitar than tone. A Suhr plays, without a doubt, four times better than a Mexican Standard strat.

You'd know that if you played one.

Re: NGD

Verbentco - for the record I have a number of REAL Fenders. This is not my 1st Suhr either. I'm not disclosing any specific details but it was not really signficantly more expensive than an equivalent Custom Shop Stratocaster, probably less expensive. There's four main differences.

1 - SSCII system. Ain't going to get that on a Fender. Single coils are have no RF hum and sound like single coils. It works - no excuses.
2 - Torrified maple neck - Never seen that on a Fender. Charvel yes, but ever heard of that on a Fender. That neck is way more stable than regular maple.
3 - Built to MY spec. I don't have the star power to get that done with Fender (maybe if I went 2X + the price with a master built not to mention a long wait).
4 - Stainless Steel frets that have been leveled with a Plek machine. Try that with Fender.

Hopefully you can now get I was not interested in purchasing a new Fender.

For the others:

Actually I do have some lower end Fenders that play very well. I see the difference more in terms of feel - Fenders have an unique feel.

I can get that in a Suhr if I wanted (JS did work at Fender Custom Shop for a while). Suhrs are more of a fine tuned/hot-rodded feel - kind of like get all you can out of it, no expense spared.

Re: NGD

Suhr makes some great instruments. A buddy of mine has one that I just love.

That's a sweet lookin one, LReese.
