I just pulled the trigger on this.. should arrive in week or so.. A squire Stagemaster V4.. has a neck-thru .. and it looks to be really clean with no nicks.. hard to tell with pics so Ill scrutinize it when it arrives
i have determined it to be a 2001 after doing a bit of research on the serial #.. only thing ill definitely change is the 'Pups.. and electronics.. Ill go with Iron Gear once again.. best pickups one can buy for the money. im thinking the Blues Engine neck .. Dirty Torque bridge..and 4 conductor with black pickup covers (not plastic)..
i like squiers too .. but im very picky on what i like. ..there are several different grades of squire in my eyes.. some look, feel, and play cheap while some are something special and others, with a bit of time/money become special..
sometimes instruments just call to you with a sexy voice and other you just buy, just because.. this one called to me.. much like my DK2 and my '95 squier.. the DXMG ,SG and the M107 were bought just because.. bored with money
what caught my eye on this guitar was that it was a neck-thru and the fact it looked to be in really good condition considering its pushing 13 years.. my dk2 is the same age but it has many dings and chips..this guitar will be baby'ed a bit.. ill get a nice case for her.. .. and will not mod this one.. other than a pup swap and possibly drilling a small hole for a kill switch(all my guitars have a kill switch..).. ill probably spend several hours debating on its location.. it just has to look "right".. and if it looks right it is right
FWIW,the plastic oval jackplate on mine was busted on arrival, but I happened to have a metal one on hand.May wanna shell out another $3-5 bucks if you don't have one. It'd be worth it.
