NGD

Re: NGD

well .. the guitar arrived. just got home from work so i only had time to unpack it.. i did check for any obvious damage and there was none.. ill probably put on a fresh set of strings tonight and give it a good setup..

i did notice that this guitar is actually pretty heavy..somewhat surprised me as to how heavy it was

this weekend i might put the tripplebucker in her, that i just recently bought from a forum member.. i also might install a no name pup in the neck that i found in my parts box..this pup sounded surprisingly well last time i installed it in a jackson dkmg.. i heard the stock pups leave ALOT to be desired.. but it is also possible, considering the age of the guitar, that the pups in her now are not stock.. wont know until i change strings..

ill take some pics of her later

the 'pups dont sound too bad actually.. not great either.. Ill know more this weekend with i run in into one of my amps.. cant tell sh*t with guitar rig.. GR4/interface sounds great but it has serious limitations.. main one is that the nuances arent as apparent as an actual amp

I really want to try out the triplebucker though.. only guitar i have available to try it with.. all my other guitars have the pups they will always have in them.. seriously not into changing pups all the time..

i finally set up the bridge a bit and played it some.. basically.. i added an extra spring so the floyd has 4 springs like my other floyds to give it a more rigid/stiff feeling and then i decided to tune this guitar to Eb..and adjust/tune until the bridge was damn near perfectly level..i seriously try to give all my guitars a similar setup

this weekend i will check the pups, change strings, check the intonation, lower the action a tad, check the neck relief if any,oil up the board.. AND put a dab of Vaseline on the knife edges.. when i was playing it.. the floyd was a tad off when returning to pitch. could be because the floyd hasn't settled into its new tuning, extra spring,or the bridge is just feeling cantankerous for its new owner..well after playing her a bit.. feels a tad stiffer than my dinky's.. but played fine..only thing so far i dont really like is the tuners.. felt cheap. I know tuners are not really all that important since there is a locking nut but still....not as solid feeling as id like and the straight headstock looked weird being so straight.. lol..

if the tuners really bother me.. ill get some tuners from guitarfetish.com.. great tuners for the price.. my locking tuners i bought from them are top notch and quite a bit superior to my jackson stock tuners
