NGDs - guitar swap

Wattage

High Voltologist
a buddy of mine was selling the 'bird and well long story short I let a cool sparkle Epi LP and an Electromatic Duojet go to get these 2 in return.

Fun day for sure!

That's a really interesting trade bro.

How do you like that Tele? I recently tried one of those Thinlines and it was hopelessly bright for some reason. It did have single coils though.
Maybe it was the amp I tried it through or something but it was surprising and not in a good way. Your Tele just looks like it can't do no wrong though... :)

Re: NGDs - guitar swap

The Tele seems pretty cool, the P-90's are SD models so all good there, Vintage neck Custom bridge. It's a Jim Adkins/Jimmy Eats World signature model - Gibson scale, set neck. It's bright but full, reminded me of the Tele Jr's they made a few years ago. It is much more LP Special than Tele anyways, I dug it instantly. It wasn't something I was interested in at first but once I played it well.....

I love the 'Bird. I've looked for one of these Epi's for a while but they were either more than I wanted to spend or they were not right for some reason. This was one was right in the wheel house and while it needs a good setup it is fine otherwise. It sounds huge!

---edited it's actually and ash body and the ridge pup was not a Vintage but a Custom which I really love!

Re: NGDs - guitar swap

Nice. I like both of those, especially the Firebird. Been jonesing for one myself for a while.

Re: NGDs - guitar swap

The JA-90 is a beast of a Les Paul Special

So freaking in love with this thing, who knew?

Re: NGDs - guitar swap

Cool Bird!!! I have a love/hate relationship with them, well their designs, their tone is amazing!!! Reverse Firebirds definitely have a firm spot in my top 3 favorite guitar designs of all time!

On the other hand, I think the Non-Reverse Firebird is one of the most hideous guitar designs of all time!!!

When I was in my first band we had this girl that I was in high school with sing for us. Her father was in a local band that got fairly big in the late 80's (@ least for a local band) & he had all kinds of awesome gear that he'd pull out & let us use.

I was like 16 & getting to use all these beautiful Mesa's, Martin's, & one of the coolest things he had was a 66 Gibson Firebird!!! I would pick that thing up as soon as I walked in and didn't put it down until I left!!! The massive Mahogany body and mini-buckers really come together to make an amazing sounding guitar!!!

All of his stuff was lost to a fire about 7-8 years ago. They were well insured & he got insurance value for the guitar and everything else but there's just some stuff that no amount of money can replace???

Re: NGDs - guitar swap

VERY Cool!! I used to really dislike firebirds, but all the sudden Im really starting to dig them. Of course, Id prefer one like Robbin Crosby had... Upside down Jackson h/s etc.... haha

That's an epi huh?? Ill bet the shorter scale on the tele tones it down a tiny bit.

Re: NGDs - guitar swap

The Tele doesn't really sound like a Tele, doesn't really play like one either but somehow it is still Tele-ish. It really is very LP Special/80's TOM'd Jr, I am digging the **** out of it.

The Bird had the stock nut replaced with a tusq nut but they never set it up right. Need to get that squared away, think I am going to re-fret it too. Looks like it had a level once, frets are a bit low for me
