NHWD - Floyd Rose content

I appreciate the functionality and divebombing is fun and whatnot... but man, the guitar looked soooooo classy without it. Hate to be the party pooper. :(

It took me a minute to get used to it...the "before" vs "after" was pretty stark, as Rex said!

Nonetheless, I think it's kind of cool in its own right and I'd sport it just for the function.

Being able to lock it down on the fly is like the missing ingredient on a regular Floyd!

Pity it didn't work out; I kinda dig it, also because it's in the spirit of Les Paul (the man) himself, who was putting those vibrolas on his from the get-go.

Thank God this is reversible. I love the feel and function of the FRX. I just could not get the action dialed in as low as I like it. The action is okay, but I like my action slammed to the neck. My frustration and lack of FR experience took me to a luthier who told me the neck angle on the Les Paul lite is different than the angle on a typical Les Paul and the action was as low as it would go. This is no fault of Floyd Rose my guitar is kind of an oddball. I do not have another TOM guitar with gold hardware so I guess I will put the bridge on eBay and someone will get a great deal on it.

Don't a lot of epiphones use a different neck angle as well? I wonder if this means that the FRX only works for Gibson models.

I am sure plenty of other guitar players would have been fine with the action. I set mine as low as possible without a buzz. There are plenty of TOM guitars with the same neck angle as Gibson and other factors in play. I still think it is a great product just not for me on that guitar. My only other guitar with gold hardware and a TOM is my ES LP and I am not going to mod that guitar. I would have no issue putting the bridge on my burst or goldtop if the bridge was silver.

What about pairing it with gold tuners and pickup covers for your SG? Or would that look like total garbage?

The SG has the Angry Widows which I use for all of my rhythm tracks and straightforward hard assault stuff. No term needed on that guitar. The LP I use for a lot of my lead stuff and when I need a trem I use the black Strat for leads. It is not a burning problem that needs to be solved. I was just looking for another flavor in the studio. I also have the B.C. Rich, Iceman and Roadstar if I want a trem guitar with aggressive pickups.

I guess at the end of the day I didn't put the FRX on the Les Paul to solve a problem but because I thought it would be cool and fun to play. And it was, but...
