Is there any tonal differences in a geven pickup by changing the baseplate from brass to nickel?

I thought Duncans and Dimarzios were brass plates. At least it looks like brass to be. As far as nickel, I saw some pups on a website, seems like BK stuff, but I may be wrong, and they were using nickel plates.

Nickel is a plating. i.e. Nickel plated brass, nickel plated steel. You never see anything actually made completely of nickel. I think its too soft.

You need to spend more time in front of the boob-tube LOL!
On one of those "How it's Made" shows, jet engine turbine fins are made out of the stuff. Supposed to get stronger as it gets hotter.
I used to think of nickel as being soft too.

Huh. Learn something new every day. I can't watch that show - the music drives my wife insane.
I guess I should have just left it as - guitar parts are typically not made out of nickel, rather nickel is plated on top of base metals.
