No Amps????

Re: No Amps????

I do plenty of playing either way. I actually do preffer playing pedals->speaker sim->board when I'm recording at times...easier to arrange stereo FX when needed as well. Also easy to minimize noise and just use headphones as a monitor...good pedals can get tone I like too.

But when playing live...its all about amps. I'd even preffer a solid state amp over playing a pedal board alone... You get a much clearer balanced cut even with a marginal amp. I've tried and tried and tried for years many different speaker sims in many different groups. There is just no comparison. If I play live I always prefer an amp.

This is pretty telling for me. It sounds like you've done the exact route I want to go and found it wanting. Hmm.
Thanks, man. Given me a reason to change my goal to something cooler.

Thanks everyone else too. I've used tube amps and found them just a little too finicky and far too loud for me to really get much use out of them. Maybe I should suck it up and build some L-pads while I'm at it.
