no more feelers- 1978 les paul recording

Re: no more feelers- 1978 les paul recording

yeah........i might hafta hold on a while.........these things come in spurts........(?)

Well, you are trying to sell a vintage guitar in a crap economy. Heck, I saw a mint 60's Princeton for around a grand, I'm still debating on whether or not I should jump on it.

This is a buyer's market. If you need the money you either adjust it to sell to what they're going for now or you sit on it for however many years it takes for the market to come back up.

The other problem is that there are no parts if something craps out. If you have a vintage strat or regular lp if something stops working there are a plethora of replacement parts out there. Not so much for the Recording LP.

And im not too sure the recording models were all that desirable of a guitar. Thats why they are only going for $1000-ish. But ya with the economy being in the shape its in right now, it would be best to hold onto it until things pick back up again and you may get more for it

Re: no more feelers- 1978 les paul recording

.....and still no-one says anything about the "comes in spurts" part............no giggles, titters or beavis & butthead-esque "huh, huh, huh's"...........or "that's what she said"s........

anybody?.....beuller?........

regarding desirability, a story: the flame topped, cherry sunburst 1959 les paul was Gibson's last ditch effort to bolster up an undesirable instrument. ( roughly, that is my layman's understanding of the sitch') at some point a few years after it's discontinuation, blues guitarist mike bloomfield aquired one, and the world has demanded them ever since........what are they up to, now? a $$$ half million-ish? who's to say what the next big thang will be?......."mought be miiine..."

re: the parts issue: i can get evrything on it from the open market, except the pickups. but, a suitable set could be found , and a pickup ring manufactured for a retrofit..........the p'ups are not it's shining feature, anyway. ((some may sight the duncan amp as an example, but, it's not the same sitch')

ain't no sweatin' needsta be did.......i been at it 30 years.......i know how it werks........tho' i appreciate the AD-vice......... i don't expect any doorbeatin' to take place anytime soon........maybe by the IRS.... (thanks, barry!) i got it as an investment, i'm prepared to stash it away. i just gotsta show it eva' now an' agin'!

i'll leave it up for a while. i get alot of questions about it......sho' is a neat conversation starter. i suspect it's gonna get traded locally for some house remodling. too bad i cain't use it to git chicks!---har!(sigh)

wish i could let ya all play it. it's really, just -that -cool! feel free to pm if ya gots a question.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY TO ALL YOU FATHERS, AND, TO ALL YOU MUTHERS, TOO!
