Wow! He kinda slams Seymour in that interview:

Yeah, he slams Grover Jackson in the interview too. He went after Charvel Jackson and Seymour Duncan for using his name and then comes out with his own brand...

My dad sold guitar for Wayne for several years in the early 2000's and Wayne tells a different story about making Van Halen's guitar but I'm glad EVH praised Wayne during that interview.

Isn't that what people do when they want to start up their own brand using their own name? Stop others from using their name? That's standard procedure in the business world, and exactly what you'd do yourself.

If you read the interview, it wasn't about him starting his own brand to sell--he didn't want anyone else using a guitar that looked or sounded like his. He switched the color scheme on his guitar to be different. His "brand" didn't come until many years later.

+1. I have played the Angelus before. Cool guitar, but it doesn't sound or play like my PRS' s or my Les Paul.

Doesn't mean he wasn't thinking about it for the future. Obviously he knows his name is worth money.

That very well could be--only EVH would know that. I've known several guitar players who didn't like sharing what gear they use while others were more than happy to show off their gear...
