No More Tears - Ozzy, in my new Les Paul

Re: No More Tears - Ozzy, in my new Les Paul

Copping Zakk's rhythm style seems to be kind of difficult.
You seem to have some timing issues when trying to make "Zakk noises".
I have problems getting the tone thick enough with the same level of gain that he uses.

For comparison,Here's my version of that song (same BT apparently). I had to use a Diezel amp model and much more gain. I found that my Ibanez RG321 with a CC in the bridge (since traded for a Norton) sounded much thicker than my les paul with a JB.

Your tone sounds closer to the original, but needs a light chorus to sit in the mix better.
Your solo was better than mine, much cleaner, better vibrato.
IMO, you could work on timing, and adding a much more agressive picking style to the rhythms.

Overall--Great work. How long have you been playing?

That was a fantastic cover! If anyone can show somebody how it's done it would be YOU! Every riff was right on. A Diezel you say? Sounded tight! Amazing way to cover a Zack Wylde Marshall sound with a Diezel.

Thanks.
It was not a real Diezel, it was a PODxt patch. The marshall patches were either too thin, or too loose.

I was not trying to "show him how its done". Just to point out my difficulties with the same song. To some extent, he showed me "how the solo is done".

Let's not take away from his attempt, by talking only about mine. He deserves some accolades for trying such a B!tch of a song, and could use some more constructive criticism.

Thanks
Nick

Your're right! Sorry Nunoslash. I totally forgot to give you credit for putting together a great cover. I was just impressed with Bigheadood's soundclips page. Both you guys inspire me to start practicing again.

Re: No More Tears - Ozzy, in my new Les Paul

Ive been playing for 4 1/2 years now Bigheadood forgot to tell you

That's what I seem to recall. You definitely have some killer lead skills, considering how long you've been playing. Keep it up.

Oh, and try that 'No More Tears' rhythm again, this time with more aggression.

Re: No More Tears - Ozzy, in my new Les Paul

Could I grab a Backing Track from either of you?

Nuno, I agree on tightening up the rhythms, The record is very locked in yet a touch behind the beat. Same goes for the solo, make sure that you are locking in to the beat on the Zakk licks (2 pulloffs E, 1 pulloff B licks)

bighead, don't rush the leads as well, I think the quick picking is making you tense up and push ahead instead of locking in on the beat. Great groove in the first two verse/chorus'!

Sounds good guys.

I thought both examples sounded good. Nice tones there. Nuno's seemed a tad slower overall and maybe slightly lower in pitch, but I only noticed that after I listened to Big's. In my opinion both versions were well done.

I play that part picking without pull offs, thats why i might be missing some beat
