no one really talks about the full shreds here?

I am only curious but it seems odd that it is not too often even asked about?
it is the only pup duncan offers that has the dimarzio look(hex poles)
you think that it is cursed due to that fact? :laugh2:

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

probabaly :D

but i dont know, i really want to try it out in bot neck and bridge.

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

me too, more so the neck version,

anyone have it in the neck? what kinda bases does it cover?

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

There's a member here named jono_l who uses one in the neck of an RG, perhaps ya'll could intice him to add something to this thread?

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

I would love to try a bridge and neck one....however I wonder if the neck one does decent cleans??? I find the '59 too warm and boomy in the neck and I wonder if this would sound better since it has about the same output from the chart looks like.

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

And I want to hear some clips of those hotter pickups :burnout:
I'm curious about those.
I am getting a JB this weekend...dunno what guitar I should with it though?

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

YAH Guys, i want to hear those neck clips, with full distortion and sweeping arpeggios and screaming 2 hands SOLOS/LEADS...
i´m eager to hear that pickup in action. i think i will buy one.
the only thing that i dislike in the 59 is its reduced midds. and it could have a little more output.
but that´s it.
Q:p
I want to check out the FULL SHRED TOO.....
AH... you must take note that no one really talks about the STAG MAG TOO.
Q:/
I am curious if it would be a good bridge pup to match dimarzio Humbucker from hell in the neck.

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

It's not that people don't talk much about them ... it's that people don't ask enough questions about it.

Myself, Sykes, Bloodswords, Jono_L, Jessica, Hellion, Farkus (Swamp Ash Man) ... there's more ... but we all use it

Ask away ... Oh and Rid ... to my ears the Full Shred is closest to the JB ... however the bass frequencies are "tighter" on the Full Shred compared to the open-ness of the JB

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

I think it's got a lot to do with what kind of music forum members play. We're not all shredders, and many look for pickups that will serve more than just one purpose in their guitar.

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

Shredders?

I guess the FS has a VERY misleading name ... Personally I think it sucks for Shred, better for that would be the CC.

It's more suited to Classic Rock, Rock, Metal, even Blues and Bluegrass

Even Dicky Betts uses the Full Shred

yeah, i don't talk about my full shred much, just like to hear mine in action... but i don't have a soundclip... :smack:

anyway, my FS is the neck version. if you solo in the neck (solo doesn't mean you shred), the FS is able to articulate clear individual notes even at very high gain. yes it has that bass-inclined tone typical of a neck unit but the notes remain defined.

the FS name is as misleading as the Demon...

PS: thanks Prophet for knowing the FS players :yourock:

How are the cleans?? Could you compare it to the '59??

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

THE PROPHET, i liked your tone, but your POD doesn´t allow my ears to really see(hear) the tone and frequencies of the pup, since i really think that the pod and all other amp simulator units MASK the sound.
i preffed if you record it with teh amp distortion, not with amp distortion simulator like v amp, pod, etc.
But i thank you very much for the smaple you sent to me

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

My Full Shred's a bridge version in my V. It screams. It has lots of clarity and cleans up nicely if that's what you want it to do.

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

It sounds pretty chunky and crunchy on the seymour duncan sound samples page and also articulate.

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

I love my FSb pup. It's so smooth and tight. I personally think that the FS works great for things besides shred-style music. At first, I wasn't too impressed with the cleans, but after a little adjustment, it has a very strong, articulate clean sound. Not too dark, which is why I like single coils for cleans, usually. Actually, I use my FSb for country style stuff all the time...it has great harmonics, btw. I actually have a JBb to go in my 2002 Ash strat, as I have another axe that's just screaming for the FS...

I'd be very interested in hearing the neck version, too. I understand that it's very articulate, even with a lot of distortion, which would be awesome.

That's what I'm hoping it does too! I have a FSn on its way to me now (should be here in a few days!), to go in a mahogany neck-thru SLSMG with a DD in the bridge. I'm really excited to hear what that FS sounds like in the neck! I'll be sure and post about it here.

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

I have yet to record a FS clip that I'm happy with - with my current recording setup, (cheapass nobrand china mic into a SB audigy) EVERYTHING sounds the same, so I've found it pointless to post sound samples.

My take on the FSn. I love it. Like described its a very tight pickup, that works well for leads. I have yet to find it thin sounding - the bass IS there, its just VERY tight. The clarity is the thing I like the most - it'll handle high gain sounds with no problem.

Re: no one really talks about the full shreds here?

ADS you will LOVE the FS neck!!! I have the same setup in a cheap Agathis bodied Ibanez GAX70 beater and its a great combination. FS is tight and articulate. Works well under high gain and won't get too drown out by the DD provided you have the heights adjusted accordingly.

On a side note I recently made a vintage split out of the FS-n by removing 3 pole pieces from opposite sides of each bobbin. Not exactly the single coil tone I was expecting, but a smoother warmer Jazz tone that I am really happy about. The cleans are pretty spectacular~
