In researching the guitar the fretboard was listed as Pau Ferro or Bolivian Rosewood.

Thx all. Took it apart this evening and confirmed PAF Pro and Tone Zone, lemon oiled the fretboard. Tried some knobs I had laying around but nothing good. Skulls will have to do until I find some proper knobs.

Correct. Fender called it "Foto-Flame".

Took the ancient corroded strings off and lemon oiled the fretboard, checked the trem posts as they aren't the standard Ibby Locking ones...other that they fit properly and do the job. Hell...the damn Gold Skulls are even growing on me.
My goal is to leave this one "as is"; no Big Brass Block Upgrade, no pickups swaps or pot replacement...it sounded and played great in the music store, it sounded even better when I got it home and plugged it into my 1st Gen 5150 2x12 Combo.
At $349.99 plus a new set of strings and a little minor tweaking on the set up it was definitely a worthy purchase.
