Noise from guitar??

BloodRose

Professional Scapegoat
Im guessing this is probably some sort of a grounding issue. I noticed that my old Kramer makes a humming noise when the vol pots are rolled OFF. Thankfully, the only noise it makes with the controls turned on are from my trying to play it... haha

What can I do to get it quiet when I have the vol pots rolled off?? Thanks

Re: Noise from guitar??

Humbuckers or Single coils?
If single coils 1st thing reflow the solder joints on the pots & shielding.
99% likely to be shielding issue

Re: Noise from guitar??

Pacer Imperial, or Pacer Deluxe with an aftermarket double hum pickguard?
Mine is an 87 Pacer Deluxe with the stock h-s-s pickguard, but it's gutted and now has only a shielded L500XL/1volume in there set for kill.

Re: Noise from guitar??

I think the bare shield wire from one of the pickups might have become disconnected. Happened to me recently with a 78 model.

Re: Noise from guitar??

It's a problem in the wiring. You have an open ground somewhere. Or, the volume pot is fried.

Re: Noise from guitar??

Pacer Imperial iirc.. Ill try to get it hooked up to the splawn today and do some checking. All the pots, wiring, pups are original. Only changes made to the guitar is a big block added to the Floyd (and thus the stock trem stop removed), and straplocks.
