Hello all,
I gotta say I have been extremely impressed with the tc electronics Sentry Noise gate. I find it to be very very good and doesn't put those weird sounds into your signal at times when the gate is closing.
I only ever used the Boss NS-2 as a gate and I used it the same way I use the Sentry. Wiring is as follows
Guitar>>>Sentry IN>>> Sentry Send>>>First Drive pedal to Last Drive Pedal>>>Sentry Return>>>> OUT TO FRONT OF AMP. So my entire front end is gated in the Sentry's loop to give a nice quite front end. My amp is very quite which is rare for a high gain amp so using a gate in the loop isn't necessary.
I used the NS-2 exactly like this and as well it worked good but what I didn't like about it is it made this strange digital noise when closing the gate. I can get the Sentry to kinda do it in gate mode but not in any other. The Sentry has Toneprint and other settings over the NS-2 that make it superior to the NS-2.
Who else makes a Gate on this level that is better ? I'm just curious as I don't really mess around with Tone print anymore. I did when I get into tc electronics pedals but found myself playing with Tone print more than playing guitar if you know what I mean.
