Nomad channel 3

What's up with channel 3 on this amp. I suppose it's meant for metal at bedroom levels but what I get is pure mud at any volume. Any remedies?

Re: Nomad channel 3

I'd keep tweaking it. Mesas are very tweakable and if you keep touching it up then you probably will eventually get a decent tone out of it.

Re: Nomad channel 3

try backing off the gain.

i'm not sure what type of music you're into playing, but if you use a crapton of gain, you'll be pleased to see what turning that knob down can do for your tone.

Re: Nomad channel 3

Are you using a combo or a head? When I had my Nomad 100 212, I couldn't stand the Red channel in the open back combo. However, when I ran the speaker out to a closed back 412, this is how the Red channel sounded good to me.

Re: Nomad channel 3

well, it's a mesa and you seem to use it a relatively low volume levels, i think those are your main problems. All mesas are pretty dark and a little flubby when it comes to metal playing from my experience. Low volume levels on a tube amp will always sound fizzy and a little unclear on 50w and up(the nomad is a 50 right?). Apart from that mesas have very sensitive EQs so you might need to take some serious time to tweak it.

Good advice, I figured it out though. That's what I did.
