Noob needs help, will pickups sound as described?

Hello, i am a noob here and had been a long time reader and decided to finally join to ask a question. I have been drooling for a nice relic strat for awhile and I ran across this one on ebay. I truly love the Stevie Ray Vaughn sound, and it is stated in the ad the the pick up set used, is liked unto the sound of SRV by people who play "9"s. First off, I dont see alot about these pickups here, and do they actually have a good tone? I e-mailed the seller about some other details of the guitar and he told me that all the hardware was marked fender from an american model stratocaster. He also stated the relic job was done by a professional and that instead of just looking wore it had minute details such as the clear coat cjeckered or webed like one that had been made 40 or more years ago. If any of you have experiance with these pups i would like to hear from you.

you can check out the link here.

I like the look of it minus a few things...The girl sticker is too much, I dont like that strap hooks, and the headstock doesnt fit the vibe of the rest of the guitar...Those are the only woes.

Thats interesting - 4 bids, and its only up to $28.

btw - I have those same pups in my Strat, and I don't sound like SRV. ;)

If i had spent that amount of money on a guitar i dont think i would start at 99 cents without having a reserve price.I'm also very wary of auctions that never say what type of wood the body is made from.

Well, a search of holly pond brought up this:

Might be the guy...you could check out his past posts to get a feel for him ( or just straight up ask him if he's the seller).
I wonder what the "SRV for people who play 9s" means? Stevie's well known to play pretty damn heavy strings, so do these pups somehow bring that tone out of lighter sets?Hmmm...:33:

I would recommend holding out for now, and learning more about SRV's gear and setup etc. so you KNOW your getting what you want. There are probably more than a few guys on here that could tell you exactly what pups he used, what SD pup is closest, etc. Just be sure and search to see if someone hasn't already posted that thread already. If you need any help in your research, let me know.

Doh! The "SRV tones for ppl playing 9s" is a quote direct from the Seymour Duncan Tone Chart.:foot:
It refers to SSL-5s, not 6s (tonally similar but why is there no Neck D.C value for the 6s?!).
Regardless, I'd still be wary.
