NOPD: Phase w/demo

New Old Pedal Day:

Spent the past weekend chillin' out with no children in Duluth, Minnesota. Beautiful weather and time away from kids can do a lot for parent's souls! What put the icing on the cake was that I was able to find an old MXR Phase 45 at the Music Go 'Round there in town. They actually had two: one block logo & one that had no markings on the outside. Both were the same price & I tried both of them out. There were significant tonal differences between the two...the block logo one sounded much better to my ear, so I bought it.

Here's a little demo I quickly recorded with my DR-05. It compares the Phase 45 to my newer MXR Phase 90. I play a few different licks and the phase 45 is always the first phase tone you hear, then the phase 90. You should be able to easily tell the difference. In my opinion, the 45 is a much more "useable" pedal. I won't gush here, other than to say that I'm really stoked to try it out with the band.

Nice score. Nice clip. Those newer block logo 90s just do not sound right at all.

Awesome! Just remember to keep that sucker set to "stun" until you get the hang of it.

How much?

Hundred bucks. Tried to get it for less, but they wouldn't budge on the price. They'd only had it in the store for 9 days.

OT: This was one of the coolest Music Go 'Round stores I've been in. They had a TON of cool used gear & the staff were really accommodating. It's one of those shops that just has narrow paths threading through stacks of amps & racks of guitars. Lots of off the wall stuff as well as some nice vintage pieces.
