With my purchase of a Peavey Classic 30, it's time to move on to the next item of interest to me, new pickups for my strat. It's an MIM Fat Strat, but I really don't ever use the bridge pickup, so I want to install an SSS pickguard and get 3 singles.
I play blues and rock and want rich cleans like SRV on Riviera Paradise/Lenny/Tin Pan Alley. For overdrive I'm going to be using a Ts9 and want to be able to achieve some good blues drive, Clapton, Duane Allman, etc.
I don't want to spend over 200 on this switch and am currently looking at-
SSL-2's
APS-2's
Texas Hots
Surfers
Twang Banger bridge
I have yet to be able to really distinguish between the SSL's and the APS's (i know they use different magnets) tonewise, on the SD site I preferred the APS's because the bass didn't fart out at the end of their clip, and they sounded punchier. But from what I've read on here the SSL's replicate SRV's tone more?
With the antiquities is that I won't be able to afford 2, twangbanger brige, pickguard, and pup covers.
I've been researching since I joined and believe to have read all the big strat pup threads, but does anyone care to help me out?
Thanks
Edit: I just remembered, I read that for necks w/ 9.5" radii that flat poles are recomended, do the antiquities come with flat poles? Or does it not matter that much.
