Not impressed with Moogerfoogers

Re: Not impressed with Moogerfoogers

The MuRf is a really interesting box... opens up all kinds of new tones & soundscapes... Yeah. It makes bleeps & bloops & transmografrys everything that goes though it, but that's the point. And it's a DEEP box too... really gotta spend some time with it to figure out what it can do in a musical context.

There's a whole lotta MUrF on the new Swampadelica record... Dai has one in the FX loop of his Hammond B3... so B3, vocals... Wurlitzer piano, some other bits... though the mURf and some other boxes, digitech whammy, Boomerang sampler, etc. and out a Leslie cab.

Interesting stuff. He's had the MurF for a few years now and he's still figuring it out...

You won't figure that pedal out in 20 minutes... maybe 20 days you'll have scratched the surface...

But I guess it all depends on 'yer musical contexts & endeavors.

WOW . . .

I could tell you just about anything you wanted to know including their kids & wives birthdays... AHAHAHA

What would be relevant?

I think the tune "Ganesh" is still available as a free download from their website... get that. Everyone & anyone who's into "good" music from prog-rock to roots rock to whatever... a 9 minute single. Lots of mutated B3 and guitar in that one song alone...

Tunes from the new record are up on MySpace... a good slice of both discs were recorded at the Phish Barn in VT. I produced & engineered the new record, didn't mix it... get it now at the pre-order price! haha

COOL . . . seems like yo are the man to know when it comes to this band !

Little known fact about me :

After the sexy, slutty tones of an overdiven amp (with or without Fuzz), the next tone that i love the most is that of the All-Mighty HAMMOND B3 !
You name the band, and i probably will like it !
From Steppenwolf to the Faces, and, and, and . . .

Now a band that is Hammond-driven AND use MOOG FX on said Organ (& not on guitar) is my ideal type of Prog Rock starting point !

Is there any other bands like them out there that you can point me to ?
Also, if you know of a band that has ALOT of OTT Hammand swirls N'swoops in their sound, feel free to let me know !

Thanks

*off to their site i go*

Re: Not impressed with Moogerfoogers

Well...Swampadelica isn't prog-rock... not at all!!!

Most people find them hard to classify & categorize...

More in common with Americana, roots, reggae, funk... lots of funk... traces of New Orleans...

Good stuff anyway.
