Note of caution re: Orange Tiny Terror speaker outputs

I'm sharing this little tidbit because there is no manual provided with this amp nor is there one available on the Orange website.

On the back of the amp there are three speaker outputs: One marked 16 ohms, and two marked 8 ohms. DO NOT plug two 8 ohm cabinets into the amp, with one in each of the 8 ohm speaker outputs. This will fry your power tubes and/or your output transformer.

The amp is meant to take either one 16 ohm cab (in the 16 ohm output), one 8 ohm cab (in either of the 8 ohm outputs), or two 16 ohm cabs, each plugged into one of the 8 ohm outputs.

The good news is, running 4 ohms (2 8-ohm cabs in parallel) on the 8-ohm outputs proebably won't hurt the amp. Tubes amps in general are more forgiving of too-low impoedance than too-high. The 2:1 mismatch isn't great, but it's not too bad.

Still matching impedance is the best way to go.

on old fender and marshall amps you are very right rich, a slight mismatch probably wont hurt anything. im not sure about the orange transformers, if they are pretty stocky then you should be ok

I actually noticed a degradation in tone (colder, less gain) after having used the speaker cabinets innappropriately for about a week. So, I guess this mistake is costly. Luckily, the dealer where I got it gave me a new amp given the lack of instruction manual.
