I have an FSR Strat in a finish that Fender calls "Sunfire Orange Flake". It's my #1. It took me a bit to be comfortable with the flake. It's a little bling compared to my usual fare. Anyway. It has a mint green pickguard and cream single coil covers and vol/tone knobs (Fender calls them aged white). It's my avatar...

Anyway, I have a zebra Air Zone in the bridge position but that's a topic for another thread. I am thinking of changing the pickguard or the knobs and covers or all. I have included pics of examples that I'm thinking of doing. Please give me your thoughts....

As is now, I had to "make" the bridge pickup appear zebra....

White Pearl guard w/black covers, bridge pickup, & knobs....

Black guard w/black covers, bridge pickup, & knobs....

Mint Green guard w/black covers, bridge pickup, & knobs...

White Pearl guard w/white covers, bridge pickup & knobs....

Aged Pearl guard w/cream covers, zebra bridge pickup, and cream knobs...

Any and all thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated. Also, please pay no mind to the Seymour Duncan logo. That was what was available to use for the

Given the flake finish, I think a solid pickguard might suit better. I love pearl pickguards but it might look a bit "busy" next to the body. My vote would be black pickguard, knobs and pickup covers.

Maybe try all cream pickups and knobs in a black gaurd.

They all look pretty good, but this one catches my eye! Just make sure the trem arm tip is a matching black also.

Here's my second choice. The perloids look really good but as mentioned earlier, it might look too busy with metal flake. It's a tough call.

Here's an honorable mention. If you were to go pearloid, I'd probably choose this one because the hue is close to orange like the orange flake. It seems more warmer than the white perloid.

I like the way it looks now but I'd say put a real zebra in it. The rest of the options just don't look right.

Compared to those options, it really looks best as is IMO. Sweet looking guitar!

I don't think black knobs and covers suit the guitar, or "fancy" pickguards. What I would do is go for white covers and a guard from Gregg Rogers Guitars. Part number PGS2018KA. "Lightly aged and deglossed off white set, using Fender brand 60-62 pickguard, Fender aged white knobs with gold lettering, aged white pu covers. Pickguard does not have shielding. Will need to either add adhesive shielding. or buy a Fender pickguard shield." Link: http://www.grguitars.com/. Click on the Strat section, then hit command-F (Mac) or control-F (PC) and paste in the part number I just wrote down. It will take you right to what I am talking about.

I say that because Fender's mint green is just terrible IMO. It looks nothing like the amazing looking original green guards. It looks good in your pic, but I think it may be a color correction issue. If it really is a Fender mint green guard, it looks kind of like a slightly desaturated green pistachio ice cream. And bright white would be too brash...yet parchment too cream. Gregg's deglossed white would be just right to my eye. Then, when you go to replace that humbucker, you could put in a double white or a white/black zebra mildly deglossed/aged to match the rest of the plastic. Double black would look great too.

My two cents. I expect your mileage may vary.

I think it looks great as it is. If there's one thing, the bridge pickup should be all-black.

Parchment for all the plastics, and there's just the right
amount of bling in the flake in the paint.

I think Black pg (or pearloid black) with cream appointments would look sharp.
The black makes the Orange pop, & the cream appointments would be a nice contrast. JMO

I like it as is, but if you want a change how about a gold anodized one or a clear one painted on the backside in Gold or off white with matching flake?
