If UPS delivered on Saturday I would've had this pedal then but instead it sat in the local depot waiting until today. Not like I would've had much time to mess with it.
Anyway, on to the mini review. First, this thing is built really well. Just what I would expect from H.B.E. based on their reputation. Quality components throughout.
Now, on to the functionality. Let me just say that I wish I had something like this years ago. Sure, the Boss GE-7 can do the job too but I always found it noisy unless I was using it as a lead boost where the noise got hidden under the drive. When used for clean settings, the hiss just bugged me. This pedal is quiet as a mouse and no pops when engaging/disengaging.
J Moose asked about boost capabilities. It does not boost much at all. If anything, with the knob up all the way, it's unity. So, it was clearly designed the way Mr. Gilbert intended to use it and that is as a signal cut for a cleaner sound without having to roll the guitar back or in tandem with rolling the guitar volume back.
The BMT adjustments interact really well. Follow the tips in Paul's notes. They are dead on accurate. I don't own a compressor so I can't confirm that one but the other two, dead nuts on. Great tips.
I'm really happy with it so far. Got it on the pedalboard where I like it and ran it through the Marshall this afternoon with ample volume. It is like having a second channel. Perfect for me. With an overdrive in front, I still get plenty of cut, just with less drive. All of this without having to even touch my guitar's volume, but I still can if I want it even cleaner, just depends on how the level is set on the Detox and how hot the pickups are. Single-coils and humbuckers alike work well with it.
And here it is on my Cuisinart pedalboard. Yes, it's a cutting board.
