NPD - I got the warm and fuzzies all over.

Well, at least the fuzzies. I've got two fuzzes being built that are nearly done, and I was going to wait to post until I got those, but I can't wait - had to share my excitement. Got a Foxrox CC Hybrid in the mail yesterday! For those not in the know, the CC Hybrid is a Fuzz Face circuit with one germanium transistor and one silicon. The idea is to get the warmth and cleanup of germanium with the sustain, gain, and punch of silicon. Supposedly, it's more temperature resistant too, which is always nice.

Played it for 30 minutes and broke out the velcro - it's that good. It's right next to my Analogman NKT275 Sunface, which is equally amazing, though very different. I like the extra gain of the Hybrid, but the lower gain of the Sunface is preferable at times. They're both incredible pedals, and they make a hell of a pair. I can't wait to try out the CC Hybrid at practice on Tuesday.

I really like the Grit knob, which as I understand it is basically a bias knob. I haven't used it with a battery yet (have no intentions of doing so) but with a PPII+, the tone is smooth throughout the sweep. Up fully clockwise, it gets towards the sputtering fuzz tone, but smoother and without actual sputtering. I haven't spent enough time with it, but I know it's a keeper. Seriously, just as good as my Sunface. I had a lot of fun stacking them together

Any other Foxrox fans?

That's what I've heard. I run my Sunface with a battery, but I really like the way the CC Hybrid sounds powered by the PPII+. And it's hassle free this way... I often forget to turn of the battery in my sunface. The less I have to remember to do, the better.

I'll probably try it out sometime though just for ****s and giggles

The more I play this thing, the more I love it. It complements the Sunface beautifully, and it's got enough gain to make a strat sound nice and meaty into a dead clean amp. Can't wait to try it out at volume.

Dave Fox makes some killer stuff.

I could have a full on Dave Fox board and be happy!

However I have not yet tried the CC Hybrid as a stand alone...I wish Dave had a dealer local to me!

Sounds cool, another mega board pic? You have some of the coolest pedals.... I'd love a SunFace..... I just have the miserable one! What are the pedals you're having built?

Thanks for the compliments! I put a lot of time and research into making my pedal buying decisions, almost to the point that I know exactly what I'm getting before even trying it. As for what I'm having built... well, that's a surprise! :friday:

I'll put a picture up later today.

Lol... that's cool.... ICEcool! ha ha. Looking forward to the pics.

The space on the bottom is where the two new fuzzes will go when they get here. The space on top is for a Strymon Blue Sky that I plan on picking up in the coming months. Once I pick up the Strymon, my modulation will be done permanently - at least I hope so.

I've come to accept the fact that I'll never be satisfied by what I can fit on my pedalboard, so I'm going to keep acquiring fuzz pedals and swap them out as I see fit. I really like the Timmy, and I don't see that going anywhere, because a volume boost is always necessary. If I get around to picking up a Trombetta Mini Bone, I may even replace the Menatone and run a 5 fuzz + boost dirt setup. There's so much versatility in my fuzz choices that I doubt I'd miss having a distortion. And even if I do, I'll keep the Menatone so I can use it whenever I feel like it.

I also put in an order for a bunch of different knobs for my pedals. I just feel like changing it up. Black metal knobs for the El Capistan, chrome knobs a la Memory Lane 2 for the Memory Lane Jr, and a few other assorted choices.
