Well, at least the fuzzies. I've got two fuzzes being built that are nearly done, and I was going to wait to post until I got those, but I can't wait - had to share my excitement. Got a Foxrox CC Hybrid in the mail yesterday! For those not in the know, the CC Hybrid is a Fuzz Face circuit with one germanium transistor and one silicon. The idea is to get the warmth and cleanup of germanium with the sustain, gain, and punch of silicon. Supposedly, it's more temperature resistant too, which is always nice.
Played it for 30 minutes and broke out the velcro - it's that good. It's right next to my Analogman NKT275 Sunface, which is equally amazing, though very different. I like the extra gain of the Hybrid, but the lower gain of the Sunface is preferable at times. They're both incredible pedals, and they make a hell of a pair. I can't wait to try out the CC Hybrid at practice on Tuesday.
I really like the Grit knob, which as I understand it is basically a bias knob. I haven't used it with a battery yet (have no intentions of doing so) but with a PPII+, the tone is smooth throughout the sweep. Up fully clockwise, it gets towards the sputtering fuzz tone, but smoother and without actual sputtering. I haven't spent enough time with it, but I know it's a keeper. Seriously, just as good as my Sunface. I had a lot of fun stacking them together
Any other Foxrox fans?
