NPD & NMD !!!

Hey everybody,
Just swapped out the bridge pup in my PRS SE Custom 24 Floyd. The HFS
ceramic just did not suit my ears. In went an Oil City Nightfighter Alnico IV.
What a beautiful pup. At 13.42k it has some punch but the sound is definitely
organic. Clean, clear, airy. Under gain, it displays a smooth richness. Me likely.
The Vintage Bass in the neck of the same guitar received a roughcast Alnico IV,
replacing the Alnico II. This is also a vast improvement. First time I've played
Alnico IVs and I really like the results. Ash at Oil City was able to make the
Nightfighter and get it to me in less than 2 weeks, from across the pond.
I recommend Oil City.

I've always thought that anyone who owned a PRS without A4 magnets is really missing out. They really are the perfect magnets for a 25" scale, combine that with the PRS tonality and it's just perfect.

I just took a look at the Oil City site, and they look really cool. Glad you're liking your new pickups. Did you give the SNS set a go? I have the bridge version only and had it in briefly, so I don't have a good feel for it. Just wondering if you'd tried them before Oil City.

How did you find Oil City? I like finding new, small wonders but I don't remember seeing them in my searches before.

Actually someone mentioned them as I was doing a little research on Bare Knuckle. I hadn't tried the SNS, but almost got one, then I discovered Oil City. A 13k Alnico IV sounded interesting. And Ash (Oil City) received glowing reviews in my research
so I gave it a go. Glad I did, love the pup.

Its an Alnico II, was just a little too flubby for me. The roughcast Alnico IV took care of that right away.
