NPD: Snakeskin Ebay Vibe win content!

Aceman

I am your doctor of love!
So I am always on the prowl for a cheap pedal, because, cheap. I also have been constantly on watch for a killer deal on something along the lines of an MXR Phase 45, a Lovepedal Pickle vibe, or something along those lines. Something low key is the swirl/modulation world. And I am also very patient. Well, finally all of those stars aligned and I am now the owner of a T-Rex Viper! Check out this snake print bad@$$ box-o-vibe!!!

I took it out for a run last night and I am STOKED! Nothing fancy, just two modes, mild and intense, and Speed, Depth, and Level. But DAYUM! Not a bad setting on the thing and just awesome tone. It is definitely not Uber-vibe, and that's one thing I love. You could run this from Floyd/Hendrix-esque stylings to subtle almost phase to vibrato to "Is that a chorus?" to a leave it on all the time "What is it about his tone?"

Now - when Gearjoneser tripped across this for $100 - I was pissed and green like one of CC DeVilles guitars with envy. I won this on the bay for $75!!!!!!!!

SO - the past couple of weeks has been pretty good pedal-wise; Mosaic, Jamman, and this beast!

Re: NPD: Snakeskin Ebay Vibe win content!

I'll get around to hooking up my own gear sometime here - but here is a good review

Re: NPD: Snakeskin Ebay Vibe win content!

That sounds cool. I've been using a phaser as my only modulation after using a chorus for like 20 years. I dig the swirliness. I haven't really jumped into the vibe world yet. I think it would be too easy for me to do Hendrix licks all day.

Also, it's an authentic photo cell circuit.

In the past, I've had a gold and white Fulltone, as well as the Voodoo Labs Micro Vibe. The T Rex Viper is more to my liking than all of them.

My other T Rex faves are the Mudhoney and Replica.

IMO< and it is only just that, a pinion, and nothng more, is that the whole tube/Photocell deal with pedals is more or less a gimmick unless implemeneted with a sophisticated circuit architecture, but that would require a fairly expensive pedal( incidentaly, the OOP Duncan tube pedals were ingenious IMO, although some question the integrity build wise.. Way ahead of their time, and one should nab one- I want a twin tube blue! These pedals seem to truly operate beyod the Starved Mode", which in the Case of a Duncan design, is a good thing)
n
I've heard the BBE clips , and it doesn't really approach the pretty standard for a classic Vibe, and that is the VooDoo Lab
"Micro"? Vibe.

Unfortunately vibe got real boring real fast for Moi. Hendrix Voodoo Chile, okay, Trower Bridge of Sighs, ok , Rinse and repeat, it gets old fast for me. Yaaawn. I do get some guys are more invloved with the pedal, not as a strictly vintage sound, but to incorporate into their tonal palette, which is cool.

I have one of the original Twin Tube prototypes from yesteryear. It is green with hand placed labels on it. ;)

Can't remember which tubes are inside but they are teeny tiny smaller than the little light bulbs you put in a fender amp.

Re: NPD: Snakeskin Ebay Vibe win content!

The "tone" signal chain is going to be:

Guitar > Stamps Drive-O-Matic > Viper > Ibanez AD-9 > Diaz Tremodillo > Holy Grail Reverb > Fender Pro Junior

My Hello Kitty Squire will sound b!tchin' through that….The Gibson with SP-1 and 3? KILLER….

Re: NPD: Snakeskin Ebay Vibe win content!

$75 is such a steal for a Viper.
We can't forget that the Viper was one of the most expensive T Rex pedals at over $300 when it came out.

Re: NPD: Snakeskin Ebay Vibe win content!

Wow, no lie. After further review, that thing smokes! I'll be looking for one. Great score.

$150 is good price. They can still roll for over $200.

And for those who forgot - Joe only paid $100 for his (I didn't). Came with power supply, and box like new.

Re: NPD: Snakeskin Ebay Vibe win content!

That thing and my Diaz Tremodillo are my top pedals.
