NPD ----> THROTTLE BOX by Mesa Boogie

I auditioned all four (4) of Mesa's offerings.... Grid slammer was okay, loved the Flux Drive, however walked out of the store with the Throttle Box. Best creamy distortion I have heard in a long time. Every note is still defined, not muddied up. The Mid control is powerful, really shapes the pedals definition and smoothness. I auditioned all of the pedals through a acoustic amp. I wanted to see what the pedals could do, not the amp. After I made my decision then I put the Throttle box in from of a Mesa Express and WOW! This is the Cat's Meow! or I should say Roar! If I get any of the other pedals in the line, it will probably be the Tone Burst. To me, its basically a clean boost pedal. If you turn the gain all the way up on the Tone Burst, you get a mild overdrive. It really will fatten up any guitar and its a boost to boot. No Noise, and I mean NO NOISE. All dial maxed into a clean Acoustic amp and all I heard was amp white noise at full volume. Way to go Mesa. Mesa....GOOD JOB, Well Done!

I would love to hear some clips/videos of that pedal if you can make them...

I always wanted to try one of their V-twin preamps, but they are rather spendy! These new line of pedals look cool!

I'm curious about this new line... I have both the v-twin and the bottle-rocket and both are quite nice...

Any clips I can do will not do it justice! You really need to put this pedal in front of you to give it a fair workout. I really was not impressed with the Mesa site clips. I did not become excited until I found them in my local music store and one by one I went through them. The Throttle Body is a great high gain pedal that you can subdue for blues if you so desire. I am not a heavy metal type player but the smoothness of this pedal is amazing. There is definition, not muddied up like most heavy distortions.

I now own the ToneBurst also. It has knocked off my SD Pickup Booster from the board and so much control!

There are some great links to the Mesa Factory during production of this pedal over at the Gear Page. Shows how the pedals are built. Sorry to mention the GP but additional info can never hurt.
