Oh man these pickups sound killer. I was nervous about the Transition being too high output for what I wanted from this guitar but it really sounds damn fantastic. The neck+bridge combo is damn good sounding. It kinda reminds me of JP's live middle position tone from Zep's How The West Was Won. I even haz clips:
I just had this jam session today with some friends of mine. It's sloppy and unrehearsed because it wasn't meant to be a demo of anything, just a jam session. But I thought it sounded good and there were a few questions on the Transition's tone, so I figured clips would be better than a wall of text.
These pickups are loaded in my Music Man Y2D (with their Music Man double locking vibrato bridge) with the transition in the bridge and 36th in the neck. I'm using 500k pots with a treble bleed kit and I still have the stock single coil in the middle position. I don't start using the Y2D until about 10:00, and though I use it for the rest of the session, I think as a demo of the pickups you can just listen from 10:00-28:00. The jam starting at 28:00 will give you a great idea of how the Transition sounds for mid gain rhythms though. I cycle through all of the pickups quite often so it would be crazy to make a list of which pickup is being used when.
I'm running through a 68 Fender Bassman and an 80's Mesa vertical 2x12. For dirt, I'm mostly using my Weehbo JMP drive and my Klon clone for the first jam and I kick on my big muff around 21:00 in the second jam, though it does get turned off at some point in the jam. For effects, I'm using a Strymon Timeline and Mobius. The Mobius is mostly set up for a 4 or 8 stage phaser, leslie sim, flanger, or chorus.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.
