NPD!

Well, technically it was yesterday. I've always wanted to try one of these, finally decided to just get it over with :laugh2:. It will be competing against a '69 Mk II fuzz for board space.

Re: NPD!

Very nice! I am looking forward to your comparison/review. I have a Lunar Module in my unfortunately distant future.

Re: NPD!

I like the Physical Graffiti typeface on the pedal. Or is it Houses of The Holy? Either way --

What exactly is it? I cannot make out the manufacturer in the photo...

I've only run this through my practice rig here at home, but to my ears the Screwdriver is more OD/distortion than fuzz. It can definitely get fuzzy with the input trimpot cranked and the gain up, but it seems better suited to lower gain tones. I wound up turning the input trimpot all the way down, and with all the knobs at noon I was thinking to myself "self, this sounds very "Plexi" to me". Hard to describe but it's got a great feel (spongy?), and the pick attack comes through nicely like I hear from a lot of Plexi-style amps. This pedal certainly isn't marketed as a Marshall-in-a-box, but that's kind of what I'm hearing.

The LM is very much in the Big Muff camp. Probably my favorite of the Muff-style fuzzes I've tried, but I don't really have use for that "wall of fuzz" sound so I passed it along. I think the SD and LM are closely related, though. I feel that if you set the SD's input gain trimpot to about 80% and the LM's to about 30%, the two pedals would probably sound/behave pretty similarly. The LM is just capable of getting fuzzier, and doesn't do the semi-clean low gain thing as well as the SD.

I will also add that I think these two demo videos are a good representation of the Screwdriver:

Yes, it is clearly an OD as advertised. I only meant to say that I have a Skreddy pedal in the radar .... not that it and the Screwdriver are functionally related.

The first Skreddy pedal I ever heard was the delay and it was at the Dallas Guitar Show several years ago. It was the only non-Rockett pedal on the demo board that the Rockett people had set up. The Rockett line sounded good and I was really impressed with the Skreddy delay.

Edit: After rereading your post I get that you were responding to my comment about a comparison. Forgive me. I am an antique.
