super rad stuff

new project guitar day comin' soon!
yesterday i went in to work, and saw that we got about 4 or 5 guitars traded in. most of them were out of my price range, but one caught my eye. a generic tele for $49! as soon as i went on break i put it on layaway(since it's on police hold anyways).
the pros:
it's a tele! i need me one of those
.... lol that's about it
the cons:
it's in kinda rough condition; the paint on the back of the neck is cracking off, the fret edges are nasty-sharp, the tuners are probably not in the greatest shape, it's missing a strap end pin, etc etc.
the neutral/whatever stuff:
it's a glossy red metalflake finish with a painted/tinted maple neck. i can already tell i'm proabably going to sand off all the paint on the back of the neck, maybe even replace it altogether sometime in the future.
the plan:
first, i gotta make sure the quality of the body's wood is at least decent. if it is, then i'll proceed with some upgrades. as for that finish... i'm not a fan. it's probably going to come off for a vintage white of some sort, along with a black pickguard or two for when i want a hb in there
at first i'm just gonna look around for some MiM tele pickups to replace whatever is in there though, along with a couple CTS 250k pots, an orange drop .033 cap, a fender/switchcraft switch, and an allparts output jack. it's got a weird bridge setup too, it's got the thee saddle bridge but it's not brass; so that'll be replaced with brass. to round out the package, it's getting a set of schaller strap locks and a leather strap.
next time i go in, i'll have to take pics and tell you guys what brand it is! lol
