'New Speaker Day', that is. Going into mid to late 1960's Supro Cabinet to be played with the matching era Supro "Sportsman" 2x6l6 head. Make no mistake about it, this thing totally nails Zepp II./
I had the two original Jensens reconed, but just saving them. One word of caution about evaluating your old speakers - one of the old originals Jensens , it turned out, was perfect, and I thought it was bad, but it was the cabinet making the buzzing, so i ruined a perfectly good vintage C12n and Weber went ahead and reconed it anyhow for the $...I would have expected they would have told me there was no issue with it. Weber ain't the same liek it was in the days of Ted.
I expect the the Eminence 'Texas Heat' to get along copaceticaly with the new Eminence 'Red White and Blues' for a fantastic American vintage tone. One, the 'Texas Heat' , for Tx blues I guess is more raw, ,forward, and ,it's punchy and touch responsive,and has a fat warm treble response ... and the other 'Red White and Blues' has more chime and openness, is brighter, tighter low end, and has an organic 3D sweet home Chicago tone. I thought about getting the Eminence 'Legends', which would be more like the original Jensens, but speaker technology is so far advanced in a modern sounding way ( not to suggest they sound remotely as good as the originals), why not utilize it?
The Sportsman has this really edgy clean and clean on the verge of breakup sound that is unlike any other of my amps- it's a really cool tonality .I would really love to be able to sell this but it's a keeper. Clapton had one of these back in the glory days.It is reputed to have been used for Led Zepplin II album!;

And Josh Holme used a Sportsman through a Klear Sound Plexiglass 4 x12 with "them Crooked Vultures ubergroup w/ Dave Grohl./
Supro/ Valco Chicago also made the Sportsmans also in the 4 x 6l6 ( mine is the lower power 2x6l6), which i sure wish i had instead, although Claptons and Jimmy Pages amps were the 35 watters like mines.!

EDIT- WORST IDEA I EVER HAD. The Texas heat by itself sounded real real good . Adding t he Red White and Blues quashed all dynamics. Maybe when one speaker sounds good, and you need two, get the same kind. Not certain if it's the dynamics of two speakers in tandem that stifled the tone ( trying to push two speakers rated at 300 watts total for the both with a 35 watt amp( although they are both extremely efficient), or just the Red White and Blues itsef./
In any event, the amp was made for Vintage Jensens, so I should have got Eminence Legend 1258's.
It's all academic, the cabinet rattles like all getout at volume. I surmise that it's the bafflebaord that has degenerated, IDK. Time to deal it ( of course I'm pretty honest so I will disclose this fact) and move on.
